mostly lax oc for local, but turners when there is a sale.
lax doesn't always have what i want, so i get a lot when they do.
anyways, it is just topping off what i shoot at this point, and then some various ammo i want to try out.

I’ve been reloading for 25 years that’s were the majority of my training ammo comes from. Before the new laws kicked in I hoarded 22 lr ammo and have a pretty big stash. I haven’t bought ammo (in Kalifornia) since the new laws took affect and seriously doubt I ever will again.

I go online to AmmoSeek, find the cheapest price per round for what I want and have it delivered to my door. I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t get ffl03 and coe. I think I’m still getting 9 mm brass fmj for either .17 or .19.

Sometimes (often), it isn't about the money.

                    Reloading isn't about the money.

Why is everyone hung up about 'making back the money'?

I usually shop at big 5 for my ammunition needs, better than the wait system at Turner's and bass pro.

Dutch 3 is right reloading is not only about money. And your components or gear doesnt expire and has value in the used market. You could buy one set up and reload for 50 years a

I never started reloading to save money, I started so I could shoot more. Don't worry about paying yourself or the cost of your equipment, it will all wash out.

In the end you get to shoot more for the same money, and you have something shooting related to do when you are not physically shooting/cleaning/handling your firearms.

Considering you can still order components (for now) I think it's possible to save a lot of money, especially on revolver ammo. That's what got me started in the bad old days pre-Mclure/Volkmer. A box of .357 hollow points might be 18 bucks online (converted to current prices), but 24 bucks in a local gunshop. The components to load might be 12 bucks a box, so you're saving 12 bucks, not 6 bucks a box.

Also, I started cartridge reloading for my .44 Magnum. It's not fun shooting very much factory ammo. I was able to load cast bullets that still had plenty of punch, but much less punishing.

If you're just loading 9mm ball and 5.56 ball, the reward isn't so much saving money as the independence and self-sufficiency it gives you. Save your pennies so you can buy bullets in bulk, like 3000 at a time or more.

+1, but online prices have skyrocketed.
Pff.f..f... if you can find any (right now).

I have not needed to purchase ammo since the 'background check' law went into effect; before that I always purchased bulk on line and had it shipped to my local FFL.

So I have a question about purchasing on line now ... how do you 'time' the background check with the out-of-state order?

Put another way... how do I know I will pass the background check when my order arrives at my local FFL. Can you do a 'pre-check'?

                                Am I over-thinking this?
