    AR pistol

Hey everyone, I have a question about ar pistols in California. A buddy at work talked about wanting one so I figured I'd look around and help him find one. Prices on stripped lowers are in the $600-$800 range, am I missing something? Didn't it just use to be the cost of a lower plus the manufacturing fee?

So you can't get them new anymore? Sorry for dumb questions. I've been out of the loop since the gun store I worked at part time went under.

I have two at home that I poached parts from for other builds. Maybe it's time to put them up for sale. I don't really have any interest in rebuilding them anyway.

Wait, weren't they all single shot?

If you are talking about an 80% build into a semi auto AR pistol, no you can't.

You would have to purchase a lower or complete pistol that is already DROS'd as a semi auto pistol via a PPT.

Also thru a family transfer from out of state. But the pistol must be made California legal before entering the state.

How do you know if it was dros'd as a semi? I have two that I paid fees when new to have them registered and marked as pistols.

The FFL that sold you them should have given you a copy of the paperwork.

Damn, I almost definitely don't have it. A few boxes were lost last time I moved and there's a good chance that stuff was in there.

Contact the FFL, he/she should have a copy.

Keep in mind, the DROS must have the handgun box checked along with the semi auto box. And if they are just lower receivers, the frame only box also.

^^ Good luck with that if it was years ago.

Agreed. The FFL may be out of business. And if the OP did get a hold of the FFL, he might just laugh at him. Searching old records by hand would be tedious.

You nailed it ARDude. They're out of business. Can I request a copy of the Dros from the state?
