How is the muzzle extension 100% non damaging to the gun, yet "permanent". I would like to have a working paratrooper, but so far see no way around either fixing the stock, or altering the barrel. Nice idea on the maglock.

you just have to get creative, if your interested i can tell you how the barrell extension was done and is permanent but not damaging, me and my uncle were very VERY creative

The muzzle extension does not have to be permanent. Thats only for meeting the 16" barrel length. Cole could have even slapped his bayonet on (if its long enough) to meet OAL regs.



And BTW, BEAUTIFUL JOB! you gonna tell us how to make the mag lock?

I am not asking this to argue, but to try and learn... If the folding stock has to be fixed unfolded so that it cant be folded and the gun fired when under 30" in length, how can the barrel extension be removable, or a bayonet be simply attached and be legal to meet the 30" figure? I tried looking up the PC and really got nowhere fast.

There is only one true mod that requires permanence. This is to bring the barrel length up to 16'' so as to avoid federal NFA law, the short barreled rifle (SBR). The muzzle extention is not permanent because the barrel is not less than 16'' per federal law. Per CA law the magazine is fixed so the stock can fold and the muzzle extention is solely for allowing the rifle to meet the 30'' of overall length for when the stock is folded per requirements per CA law.

Why shouldn't a bayonet count as overall length of a rifle? Buttpads, muzzle brakes, flash hiders, fake suppressors, and rods welded on are all to gain overall length and most of which are not permanent. The law doesn't specificy how the length is achieve, only that 30'' is the minimum. If you use a bayonet it obviously can never come off, permanently attaching may be wiser but it is also not required. That said, if asked you to measure the overall length of a rifle would you not take into account the bayonet mounted on it?

I dont really want to shoot it folded, but I also am not keen on having to pin or weld it open. The bayonet option seems problematic in that it could easily be removed by the cops if you ever had a problem and it was confiscated. Gets removed for storage in property room, and suddenly the overall length is short.

What? You can shoot a rifle with the stock folded in CA if the overall length is greater than 30'' folded and the magazine is locked. Most people fix the stock open so they don't have to deal with making it 30'' folded.

You might want to look into the Kel Tec SU-16 CA.

This is true. You could always fix the bayonet.
