FSC
    SDGE bill

When I offered my CCW they said they didn't need/want/wasn't necessary.
That's odd. The last 2 guns I purchased when I offered my CCW as 2nd ID they were happy since it made their jobs easier.

So is the CCW considered a replacement for not having a REAL ID?

I think there's 3 or 4 different CDLs in CA currently. Minor, Federal Limits, Real ID and somehow my Non-Real but no federal limits apply statement. Three guns stores have taken my CDL and CCW combination in Sacramento.

I don't need any of those IDs. Mine is government issued and is ALL that is needed.

With California Real ID, it's the easiest way to purchase firearms.

Yep - ID still needed for gun purchases.

The only place you DON'T need one, is for all gummint services & benefits, a driver's license, college education, and pretty soon, a $1,200 check - courtesy of Madames Occasional-Cortex and Pe-LOUSY.

Two related questions: 1) Is my valid non-Real ID Drivers license worth anything now for this process? DMV is basically closed so I can't upgrade. 2) Does my FFL3+COE count for anything in this process? I know Dicks would take my COE number for ammo to fast track the normally long wait with California background checks.

Yes. I have purchased 3 guns since May of 2018, and my DL is the old style that does not say "Federal Limits Apply".

You still need the documents required for proof of residency, along with your ID.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, it is a good idea to call your LGS and ask them what they require/will accept.

I cannot answer your 03FFL/COE question.

ID requirements are in PC 28180: https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/f...ctionNum=28180.

                        28180.
                        (a) The purchaser’s name, date of birth, and driver’s license or identification number shall be obtained electronically from the magnetic strip on the purchaser’s driver’s license or identification and shall not be supplied by any other means, except as authorized by the department.

                        (b) The requirement of subdivision (a) shall not apply in either of the following cases:

                        (1) The purchaser’s identification consists of a military identification card.

                        (2) Due to technical limitations, the magnetic strip reader is unable to obtain the required information from the purchaser’s identification. In those circumstances, the firearms dealer shall obtain a photocopy of the identification as proof of compliance.

                        (c) In the event that the dealer has reported to the department that the dealer’s equipment has failed, information pursuant to this section shall be obtained by an alternative method to be determined by the department.

                        (Amended by Stats. 2011, Ch. 745, Sec. 52. (AB 809) Effective January 1, 2012.)
CCW ID is great also. And if it's a handgun then you might also need an FSC card that has a 5 year expiration date.
WRONG!!!!

A valid California CCW exempts the purchaser from the FSC. This applies to long guns and handguns. A valid CCW also exempts the purchaser from performing the safe handling demonstration and it serves as a secondary proof of residency for handgun purchases. Stop spreading FUD!
