Mag storage: full or empty?

For my AR's I keep a lot of clips loaded ready to go. But my AR's generally are not my first line of defense.

If you're really worried about the mags wearing out keep blocked ones full and freedom week mags empty but at the ready. Reason being you can always buy another 10 round magazine in the future, but freedom week may not come again. Use your full 10 rounder to keep the zombies at bay while you or someone close to you loads your freedom week mags.

There were a lot of guys who went through years of war with loaded 1911 magazines, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Personally I keep a couple full mags for my go-to HD guns.

Not a bad idea, but it is still legal to buy parts for standard mags.

You can buy new springs, floorplates, etc. you just can't / shouldn't buy more than one type of part from the same retailer. You do not want to illegally construct a new standard cap mag.

I don't keep my AR mags loaded. My first line of defense is a handgun. Which is loaded and ready. Xtra mags also.

But, if shtf, I can load my mags pretty quick with those clips.

I can see why a person would keep loaded mags for Home defense / self defense

but no need to load every magazine you own for other firearms not for HD / CCW

thats how accidents happen, if you keep everything loaded , one day you might forget it's loaded, like those gun accidents they have at gun shows.

I keep all of my mags loaded with one less round than full capacity so that it's easier to insert into the gun. I keep my mags loaded so that they're always ready for the range or for self defense.
