I got my first Glock in 1995.
I have used brake cleaner and acetone on Glock frames for 25 years with no ill effects.
It does not haze or lighten the frame because it is not effecting the material.

What it DOES do is strip all oils and crud off.
That may change how the frame looks, but all you have to do it handle it again or wipe it with an oily rag and it will look like it always does again.
Much the same with how stripping the oil off parkerizing makes it look different.

Put it in the top rack of the dishwasher next to the rest of your Tupperware.

The simple solution is soak the grip in acetone then set it on fire.

Now go buy yourself a 1911.

Well I was thinking a bench grinder with a wire wheel. Then buff it out afterwards...

That's only because it removes the oil from your hands when using it overtime. Old Glocks that are shiny simply have oils from people handling them. No real harm to the plastic. New Glocks are matted.
