How To Remove Tape From A Glock

    Hey CalGunners,

I just picked up this Glock today but this scratchy tape is really scratching my hand and fingers. Does anyone know how to take it off? I've already tried peelong it off but it won't budge.

I would start by soaking the frame in acetone and putting the frame in a ziplock bag to keep the acetone from drying up.
The acetone won't hurt the frame but will eventually soften the adhesive.

Just use a hair dryer to heat it up and it should peel right off.

I use alcohol to remove the sticky residue.

Not sure if you've shot Glocks without the tape, but it's really slippery. You might regret taking it off.

As another poster said, heat it up with a hair dryer, then peel it off. For any sticky crap that's left, use mineral oil or baby oil and you should be able to then just rub it off with your fingers.

I think mileage varies on this. I've been shooting and carrying Glocks for about 20 years and never used tape under any circumstance. I've never had an issue even when under stress/exertion, etc.

                      Rub off with WD40.

Peel it off with hand dryer. Wipe down with rubbing alcohol and apply a new one while your at it. Those things really help! You’re hands will adjust and sound like they could use some toughening.

same here, I never liked using grip tape on my Glocks either, I like some smoothness so my hand can conform naturally to the grip

plus my hands are usually dry, I dont sweat much on my hands so it doesnt feel slippery

Your comparison is faulty. The guy you replied to has never needed to use that tape in all the time he's been shooting. That's a direct reply to someone else who posted that the gun is "slippery" without said tape. Perfectly reasonable.
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

Blood makes stuff slippery, just sayin.
