Exactly. Or if he really does want to put a new slide on THAT gun, he's too stupid to own it.
Did you shoot it with the new barrel? If it functions, I'd leave it as is. At WORST I'd do some work on the barrel, not the slide.Comment

Another vote for pounding sandComment

You offered a 15 day inspection
Have him return it to you on his dime.
It’s an 70-80 year old shooter.Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

First I’m surprised you sold it to begin with, seems just the family connection would be worth more then $1300. But anyway, sounds like the guy thought he was getting a new gun. What was he thinking, he bought a very old piece of history it’s ridiculous you owe him nothing.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

If he won’t pound the sand, make him kick a rock.

The feed ramp is original and untouched, the only thing that was done was widening of the barrel throat.Tell him to pound sand. What an idiot this guy is.
IIRC it is not the depth of the lug groove that matters, it is the amount of engagement with the barrel lugs. And that is usually around .04 - .05 so I don't know how you would achieve that with a .03 slide lug depth
Maybe he is saying the lug depth is .03 but should be .06?
I think the mid-spec slide lug depth for a GI 1911 is ~.059
I looked at that ad many times - it was always very tempting to me. The only thing that kept me from buying was the frame ramp mod, but at that price it is really not a problem for someone who is not an OCD collector.
Where is this gun at now - maybe I will go buy it from him

This guy is definitely an OCD type
The gun shoots and functions as should, that's what I know.Comment

I'm not normally in favor of outing people, but the buyer's story sounds sketchy. The tolerances are off so it needs a whole new slide/top end? Sounds like he's trying to have his cake (gun) and eat it too (I assume he want's a partial refund to cover the cost of the slide). If there was an inspection period, he should have sent it back if it wasn't up to snuff, period. Totally shady. Hopefully this guy doesn't try this with anyone else.Comment
