A Royal Blue Python of yesteryear is very unlikely. Just too much time involved in producing that finish.

I seem to remember hearing the same thing about a new Python.

I would imagine the value would suffer(its about time, they are stupid over priced!!) Just like the original Mustang when it was reproduced. Remember to never say never. i'm surprised Colt didn't do this earlier.

They still blue the SAA, or for extra money they will do a royal blue. I don’t see why they can’t blue the Python. Maybe charge more for it.

The Python had a transfer bar issue with a certain type of ammo but that minor "recall" got cleared before dealers put them on the table.
Now some cosmetic and mechanical issues have surfaced that will require new owners (not in CA) to send back to factory for fixin'.

I have tracked some blue pythons on GB since the release.
The shooter grades so far have gone for a pretty penny.
New in box samples alot more.
Avg shooter maybe $2300..?...yet one outlier shooter went for $$3k.
The BSS models in box still reaped good dough at that GB auction.
Time will tell.
The rough start of the new Python may give ammo for online myths designed to bolster the 'original' pride $$.

If your using old technology. But chemistry and manufacturing has advanced and we could see far better in coming years.

It almost looks like Cimmaron's Charcoal Blue, which Hickock45 says is a very fragile finish, easy to scratch. But HIckock was talking about Cimmaron Charcoal blue, not Colt Royal Blue. But picture #30 looks just like Cimmaron charcoal blue to me.

Nope; because various EPA, other environmental regulations, and cost, and that they are not hand-working these guns which is what it took to attain that high-polished blue, are all things that simply do not allow for them to achieve the bluing that once was. That's why Smith and Wesson's modern "blued" guns look more like gloss-black rather than a fine luster blue.

I suspect if anything, they'll offer "blackened" stainless and various Cerakote versions in the long run.

(That is, once they can figure how to get the cylinder to continue to advance after the 60th round through the gun.) -

Personally, I'll be waiting til a while after it's on the roster, until well after the buggy reports subside, and the cost inevitably comes down. I suspect it will eventually settle around $1200 in the long run (but this could also be a halo-gun they don't have to drop the price on, and it could possible sell at MSRP a decade-long.)
