Like I said before the business owner should be paying their employees fairly. Why should I, the customer, feel bad that a scumbag business owner treats their employees poorly? Minimum wage laws have come about in California because of that.

Minimum wage going to $15+ in CA I hear.. That's what the average college grad here makes right after graduation. And the cost of living isn't cheap..

You can bet YSR has never put anything in that jar
Some say that he once mooned two prostitutes just for a round of drinks, but wasn't surprised by the reply......They call him, the Hutch
Some say that he rode a dirtbike 7k miles across the country and that he once applied Bengay to his own testicles for a mere $50............They call him, the Hutch -Top Gear

I'd treat that tip jar the same way I treat the new casino trick of asking if you want to add a tip when you pay for the buffet with your credit card... "No". Tips are a gift for good service, not a tax for service.

I'll tip the server in a casino buffet if they take good care of me, but I'll be danged if I'll tip someone just because THEY expect a tip.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

Their job that they already get paid for is to take good care of you. In non-tipping countries service is so good, I think it's because they know their job is to provide good service and if they don't they will quickly be replaced with someone who.will.

I went to a restaurant in Korea, I left a $5 tip. The waitress chased me down about 1 mile as I was about to head into a subway to give it back.

opposite on what happened to wife and i. we went to chinese buffet in fremont (?) several years ago. after done eating, we got up and start heading out and this asian classless waitress yelling "tip! tip! tip!" wife and i looked at each other and was wondering why are we obligated to give tip in a buffet.
