Sadly I made the same mistake once, I thought I had double checked every gun before leaving, then when I picked up a pistol to clean it I swung back the Slide only to see an unspent round fly out! I was like WHOLLY WTF! No mag in the Pistola just a CHAMBERED Round, but lucky for me my Walther wont fire W/O the Mag in place, so thank goodness I had that little bit of safety margin left! but still! really dumb mistake on my part.

Never Never Never will I do that again!

Maybe not, but you asked what "crime" was being talked about and I replied.

Umm, yeah, we do talk about crimes sometimes...

I know, I was merely fishing for the exact answer you gave me so I could remark on the fact that this "crime" we speak of could possibly have never been committed.
            Dear California,
I love you. I was born and raised in you. You have given me some of the best times of my life. Now with that said, I can not wait to move!

A while back I took a friend and his friend shooting with us. At the end of the day, my friend and his friend packed up my rifles while I was up at the office buying one more box of ammo to keep at home.

When I got back to the car, I pulled out the rifles they had packed. They both protested and asked why I didn't trust them. I opened the chambers, and the one packed by my friend's buddy was cocked and loaded. I never did find out if he did it on purpose, but suffice it to say I have never brought him back shooting with me.

So I can relate a little bit with what you're saying.

You did the right thing in double checking, and the fact that they protested, I would have also done the same thing - not bring him again.

Since when is it a crime to have a loaded shotgun in a safe? I'm pretty sure there is not a crime, just a slip up.
