An empty holster would make about the same point, and would be subject to less misinterpretation.

If you're going to do this, might I suggest carrying a banana instead as I believe it will achieve the same desired results but help keep you from running afoul of the law.

It WILL get noticed. People will ask about it. It's clearly not a gun.

That's perfect, but if you really want to get the attention of the left, you'll have to add a second holster carrying some KY jelly.

OP is from Madera, a city that is plagued with gangmembers and violence.

Police are trained to be on the look out for armed persons in possession of firearms that are painted to look like toys. This stunt is asking for trouble, especially in a place with the problems that Madera faces.

Forgive this source, but here's an article which relays a lot of information that was sent out statewide in an officer safety bulletin a few years ago regarding this topic: https://upload.democraticunderground.com/1172160999

That is childish, pedantic, and a clear indication of your misunderstandings regarding law, police officers, City of Madera, and actions of gang bangers. Stop watching tv.
I brought up the idea because several years ago, I was provided that exact training bulletin during briefing. Is it common? No. But there's documented cases of bad guys with disguised weaponry.

You're the one coming onto a public forum asking for other's insight about carrying a toy gun around town as a means of protest, and wondering what could happen to you legally if some "douchebag cop" saw it. I'm the one providing that insight and letting you know that such behavior could very well get your *** shot, and the exact same training bulletin that would probably be used to exonerate the officer that does it in court.

OP I support your idea and hope other find ways to normalize everyday carry besides just sending thoughts and prayers or donating to the corrupt NRA.

I would love to see California go to constitutional carry so that we can carry concealed without the need for kissing the government's boot.

I agree, I OC too while in open country; I think it is much easier to do so than CC.

I tend to CC in public though; I know a lot of people are afraid of guns and I understand they fear what they do not understand. So I take the CC route to meet everyone halfway.

                          Just my 2 cents.

BTW, great story on the tool/license trust the auto parts store clerk had towards you.

I don't see how open carrying a toy gun will sway public opinion or lead to more pro-2A votes. Will just appear nutty.
