    Oops, you are completely correct. They teach Weaver stance, not crossed thumbs. That's my mistake, I apologize (and will correct my post).

      This is what I was going to say.....

      Aiming is useless if you keep moving the gun/sights.

      I hold the sights and press the trigger back as if pulling the front sight back through the rear sight "goalposts"....that seems to work for me

      A couple general rules in all shooting sports;

      The perfect practice mantra applies; You are better off slowing down and making every shot count than shooting more. This helps you to feel the different components of the shot...and when you screw up.

      Typically shooting at longer distances makes you more accurate at the shorter distances.

        nice shooting laying down. j/k! it's either your sight is off or anticipating/flinching.

            Concentrated on the torso only. 20 shots each target. More spread out but still working on trigger control, grips sight alignment, etc.

              That's a classic pre-ignition push. Try this: If you're right-handed, HOLD the gun with your right hand, CRUSH the gun with your left hand. Don't worry about recoil; just think about trigger control -- press the trigger straight back. Do not try to control the gun with your right hand; that's the left hand's job. If you start shooting high on follow-up shots when shooting pairs, then crush the gun even harder with your left hand. Seriously, just try it.

                I'll note that, thanks.

                  10yds, 40S&W, stock sights, range ammo nothing fancy.
                  I've shot about 500 rounds by now. (I've never owned a .40 before)

                  Looking to improve my shotting skills any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated. (No idea why the pic went sideways)

                  Low and left.. you are a typical right hander who is not gripping the gun properly and flinching when you fire the weapon.

                  GET SOME PROFESSIONAL TRAINING.There is nothing worse than wasting money AND reinforcing poor technique and then asking online here where most of these armchair experts are anything but...Where do you live?

                        I understand, this is a forum of opinions. Yes, multiple people giving multiple advice is not the best training I can possible get. Being a member of different forums (not gun related) over the years I've learn there's always real people trying to help and give honest advice/opinion. Yes the next step is to take professional training, until then in will keep reading and posting and taking all the positive and negative comments/advice and use it to my advantage.

                          Why are you training to shoot guys laying on the ground?

                                When I first started shooting, my buddy helped me get rid of the flinch before the bang was to load up 1 or 2 snap caps randomly into your mag.

                                When you finally shoot on the snap cap, the gun shouldn't move at all. You'll see how much or little you are actually flinching when anticipating the bang.
