I had a case of shotgun ammo arrive 6 months late. I had a case opened and half the ammo removed, I've had boxes arrive leaking ammo out holes in the cardboard.

    Ups is simply not trustworthy.

Yes, you CAN fit a case of shotgun shells into a .50cal ammo can.

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling.

I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest.

After one theft, which the vendor covered, I had all shipments held at the distribution center. Yes, I had to go pick them up but I eliminated one source of risk, the last-mile driver.

Have about 10x more trouble with oops! (UPS) than FedEx or USPS.
Everything from broken stuff to drivers that were to lazy to wait for a signature...

... Mine went missing, I called UPS and a manager said that the driver said my property had a gate which requires a code and no one picked up the intercom. Not true and I was home the whole week. ...
        Just saying my experience.

May depend on what hub it goes thru. Boxes are usually fine but ones that go thru hubs like NC, georgia, nashville your box willget smoked. From ammo to vicoria secret lotion box gets desroyed

So a physical accident at Lathrop just seems more likely.
The box looks like it was poorly packed from the place of purchase...too much weight and an insufficient box and strapping...but the shipper accepted it so it is on them. The damage to the box looks like a combination of sliding, dragging, and compression. I suspect that when the goods came out, the crew on the truck or in the warehouse, all of whom are on the hamster mill with the clock running, did not want to take the time to sort out where the loose merchandise belonged, so it probably went to the loss prevention group or damaged goods or undeliverable group for resolution...I doubt it went home with anyone as that is instant firing from a pretty decent job.

Put in a claim...be civil while doing so...and they will help you out....be uncivil, and they will jerk you to the extent they can. Realize, your claim has been diluted by accepting an open and damaged box.

For a bit I worked in a UPS sort facility and there is literally almost NO time to worry about what is in a package much less find time to surreptitiously open it up and steal from it. The pace of packages coming off the belt is super fast.

Of course there is possibility of theft either at the drop off point or from the truck driver, but my [limited] experience inside a big UPS building is that few people would have the time or ability to crack open a box and steal junk. Most likely the rounds from the damaged shipment are still rolling between a couple belt rollers to this day.

The most obvious is the pickup driver. If you pickup directly from Brownells warehouse (store), you would know immediately it's ammo . Small box that weights a ton. Siphon the load then send it on its way. It only takes about 2 minutes max and he's the only one in that truck after pickup. All drivers have clear tape in their trucks provided by the company.

Sylmar, CA on 6/26 - Lathrop, CA same day - spent two days in Lathrop following an exception of "we've incorrectly sorted this package which may cause a delay" - left Lathrop on 6/28

Sounds like Lathrop is the weak link - UPS should start any investigation there....

The ammo law (at least the provisions about buying; selling limits apply) doesn't apply to COE/FFL03 holders. You can keep ordering from Brownells.

And it's not surprising Brownells took care of you. They're the best in the business.
