Do you know if we have to do this every time we buy ammo?

Unfortunately, yes. You'll have to plan ahead now and buy your ammo in bulk so that you don't have to make multiple trips and do the background check multiple times.

I've found that you can order online from vendors with a local store, such as Sportsmen Warehouse, and select to pick up locally in their store. So now I place orders for a couple of thousands of rounds each time instead of buying small volume.

I transferred a gun on Wednesday. I have a new Ca ID that says "Federal Limits Apply" They weren't going to let me transfer the gun. But after a call, they completed the transfer. But said with that ID, I wouldn't be able to buy ammo or a firearm.

They do not know, or do not care, what the law actually is.

I was at the Santa Ana Ammo Bros. store today and I saw an add for some 22 rimfire non-lead which is something I could use. Turns out they didn't have any in stock, but I asked the clerk if I could buy another caliber on the same DROS when the ammo came in. He said, "Good question, I'll ask my manager." He came out a bit later and said it had to be a separate DROS for each caliber. I'm not sure that's right though because I've been told otherwise by some other stores. Confusion reigns supreme under the new regs!

I bought 308, 223 and shotgun shells all at once and had one since lookup for $1

What irritates me if my memory serves we had to give our social security number on the DROS form. Our SSAN numbers never change even if our address does. IDIOTS.

And about getting as many retailers as possible out of the ammo sales business.

I snuck some in from Utah last year, as well as some cheese, apples and 9mm Makarov into the 395 corridor on the way to Mammoth last year... And I told them I have nothing to declare..

Not sure if this is right place to ask this but i recently did a ppt at bullet barn in upland a. Day of pick up i decided to do a transaction for ammo which was a walk in the park and only needed my regular old California drivers license. I go to wal mart the other day to get some range ammo and the guy told me i needed a new California Id an if i wanted to purchase with my current ca drivers license i need a birth certificate is that right?

I went to Bass Pro to pick up some premium hunting ammo yesterday. I have the OLD LICENSE (doesn't say "federal limits apply") and my CCW. I was approved in about one minute, paid for my ammo and left.
