    Rude guy at the range

I treated myself to a morning at the range on Saturday since it was my birthday. I had been there for a couple hours and it was starting to get busy. I had a target out at 100 yds, went out to patch the holes at the cease fire. Started back and found out the folks that had occupied the bench next to me had completely screened my 100 yd target with their 2targets at 50 yds. Asked the burly looking guy if he could move one of his stands over one space to clear my target. His respone was 'Nope'. I said to him, when you shoot you will not only hit my target I can't even see my target because of yours. He response was that his lined up with his table so too bad. I pointed out that actually they didn't but it would resolve things if he would move his over one space. 'Nope, won't do it.' Just then a gust of wind knocked my and a couple other targets over so the cease fire went on longer so the targets could be set up again. In past years I would have gotten insistent, or gone to the range master. But it was my birthday and I didn't want to spoil the mellow feeling so I just went out and collected my target and left. The guy never said a word or modified his stance. I guess I shouldn't surprised that any hobby has a certain number of jerks involved in it. He had this look of grim determination on his face like no one had better push his buttons. Considering that guns and ammunition were involved I left. Seems like things have changed recently and the fellowship of shooters is fading fast.

No, you shouldn't be - everything has a certain number of jerks involved in it. The good thing is, jerks are the minority. One shouldn't argue with a real jerk, but most of them will have to listen to power - I would've let the RM sort this out.
Would you, shooting at your own target, have ruined his? Good.

Its at times like this that I take my pants off. Usually clears me some space in the immediate area.

And they say punks of my generation are the rude ones...

I've found that people can be jerks, no matter which age group. Sorry to hear about that on your bday of all days.

I would just shoot at my target. And if it hit his, too bad.

I would have blasted his target into a pile of confetti and toothpicks.

With the large influx of new or returning gun persons. You can bet, there will be some issues. You did right by keeping you cool.

The target stands at your range is not numbered?
At my range, table 1 use target stand 1, table 5 use stand 5, etc.
No arguments and confusion if the stands are numbered according to tables.

that's when you begin to shoot the .50bmg. when he complains and asks you to move, "nope"
