Does the compensator screw on to a threaded barrel? As far as I know, that would be the only thing which would make a compensator illegal in CA on a pistol, but others here may chime in differently.

And when you say "building" a glock- if by building you mean, "from a stripped or 80% frame", I'll assume you are familiar with those laws.

      Compensators, no problem.

Threaded barrels, however, PC 30515 in relevant part

      (a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, “assault weapon” also means any of the following:

      ...

      (4) A semiautomatic pistol that does not have a fixed magazine but has any one of the following:

      (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.

      (B) A second handgrip.

      (C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning the bearer’s hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.

      (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

I think Strike Industries makes a comp that doesn't require a threaded barrel

As long as the compensator is permanently attached the threaded barrel is fine

Randall can probably pin and weld it for you. Won't be able to fieldstrip it anymore though.

There are only a few cartridges that will benefit from a comp on a Glock. 9x25Dillon most notably.

460rowland web page won’t open for me.

They had extended and ported barrels for sale. More info here

Buy an extra slide and threaded barrel and keep it as an upper? This was the idea behind legalizing suppressors in California too.

Frame mounted compensators for semi-auto pistols are CA legal, because they do not require a threaded barrel.

There are also barrels available that have a compensator cut into a barrel.
