I used to only go for the occasional deal, but now I find a new purpose at gun shows — information. I typically go there to pick the brain of vendors, sellers, and the occasional LEO. Sometimes it even leads me to a deal or connects me with someone else for other cool stuff.

I think there's one at Cow Palace in SF next weekend.
Anyone have feedback specific to Cow Palace Crossroads gun shows?

one good thing about today's gun shows in California, it's never crowded, no long lines, easy to walk through , it's almost like your at a stamp collecting show / quilt show now, it's nice and quiet, no more rubbing bodies with sweaty patrons that havent bathed in a week.

ammo is more expensive than retail, unless your buying gun show reloads from small time ammo vendors, no way Im buying a gun show reloaders ammo.

Today at the Lodi show there were a few venders that had decent "show" deals. I did not see a while you wait hearing pro person. This thread has got me thinking to try a pair. I will go again tomorrow morning without my little one and see if I can do a better search. Plus I need to pick up some things I decided I wanted. Ticket to the show is good for both days so no need to pay to enter again.

Do you remember how much the ammo prices were from the ammo vendors? Specifically bulk 9mm?

Miwall 9mm 125 gr plated bullet reloads were about $150/ thousand.
Ammo Bros had factory 9mm for around $180/ thousand.

For me, gun shows in SoCal are not worth going to these days because of all the non-gun stuff and the junk people are trying to hawk. The only good thing to be gotten is maybe information from vendors and gun show goers.

The old Los Angeles County fairgrounds gun show in Pomona was far better to look for guns, ammo and accessories.

A lot of U.S. military looking gear at the gun show is cheap imitations made overseas (in China or elsewhere) and not real USGI surplus. Example below:

The Garand M10 combo tool on the right is an imitation made of soft steel bought at a gunshow. The blade tip broke off trying to remove a stubborn Garand gas plug.

The combo tool on the left is genuine USGI or an equivalent made of strong steel.

Oh. And we both became NRA members. Something I've wanted to do for a while. Bought 5 year memberships for the 2 of us.

gun shows are also like conventions for gun enthusiasts , sportsmen, operators, Military historical groups,

they have STAR WARS conventions, Comic book conventions, Gun show convention, etc

some people like to dress up in period costumes / reenactment groups, same thing the Star Wars guys do at events

I did over hear 2 mall ninjas in Lodi today. One said to the other "Man now it will look even more tactical with this. I mean a flash lite, what could be more tactical than that?" Should have got a pic of them in their mall ninja outfits.
