Mag storage

I was looking inside the safe today and noticed that there are some extra mags in there that are not organized. My question is what methods others are using to organize the extras that won't fit in the factory pistol boxes and in the case of the rifles inside not having boxes?

i use a shoe organizer. you can mount it to the back of the door or wall

I have sets of Velcro mag pockets on the inside of the safe door.
Also added a slide-shelf that hangs from one shelf.

My extra magazines are in shoeboxes...but locked up in a large storage container I also use to store ammo. Other stuff in there... loaders, stripper clips... I guess that is as organized as I can get.

I'm not an AR guy, so this may be a dumb question, but I didn't think AR magazines had a "hook" on the baseplate, as would be needed in the image above.

the pmags and i think some others have a slightly bigger base plate on the ar15 magazines vs the traditional aluminum stanag mags.

but then you adapt and use a magnetic strip instead like in the second picture that was holding the pistol mags.

me, i don't have that much to worry about storage. use one of the MTM flat ammo bins and 2 more .50 cal ammo cans to hold all my mags, mag pouches and pistol holsters.

and still have room to spare.

I use the MTM plastic ammo cans. Keep all the extra mags separated by rifle and handgun and sit it on top of the safe.

I have tried and use a few different solutions. I did find that the magnet strips do not work well with standard capacity magazines when full. I have a few on the shelf ready to go and in some cases the mag organizer in the safes have one mag for each handgun and rifle ready to go. But with the many mags:

The coyote surplus bandoleer does not close with two Pmag, Hexmag, DD or Lancer in each pocket. They will close with issued GI mags or the Brownell mags.

I store them in large plastic totes.
I stack the totes up on top of my 3ft wide x 6ft tall ammo cabinets.
