So today I was at Burro Canyon in the public pistol line area, zeroing in my red dot. While waiting for a ceasefire to end, sitting on one of the benches behind the red line, a Hispanic gentleman approached me. He was about 6’0, 220 lbs, in his 50s with a salt and pepper colored goatee:
Him: Hi there.
Me: Hello sir.
H: So...are we going to do this?
M: I’m sorry. Do what?
H: Are you going to sell me the 30 round clip we were talking about in the office?
M: Sorry, but I haven’t been in the office, and I have no idea what 30 round clip you’re talking about.
H: Are you sure you’re not the guy I was just talking to about selling me a clip?
M: Yes, I’m certain, seeing as how i haven’t been in the office since I paid my admission fee to shoot.
H: I must have you confused with somebody else. I wonder where that guy went?

With a starting line like this:

"H: So...are we going to do this?"

If it were me, i would have told him that he needs an eye doctor more than he needs a clip of any kind.
And, that if he is looking for a Broke Back Mountain experience, a gun range is the wrong place to bother people.
He would walkp away.

I have never had anyone ask to buy/trade anything at a Range. I have had people ask if they could shoot something I brought to shoot. There was a time when I might have considered, but that ship has sailed. In today's world (California) not unless I have known you for a really long time.

Any stranger who approaches me at a gun range about buying or selling anything is an instant "beware!". I dis-engage immediately. But then again, I do the same about any stranger I may meet on the street trying to sell me something.

I can see this thread turning into comedy hour as to how cal gunners would of responded if it were them. Sometimes I think/know private ranges are best to Avoid potential crazies or inexperienced shooters

There's this one old (well, older than me anyway) dude that always tries to sell me AR stuff when I am shooting an AR at the range I frequent. Seems he sold off his AR's as a result of gunmageddon, but still has some bits left over. I fed him back his sales pitch the last time he approached me, since I'd had him try and sell me his Troy sights a few times already.
