Kids in the home so I use a finger print scan safe on the nightstand.
Inside is a Glock 23 and Glock 43. The Glock 23 will be replaced by a Glock 19 soon.
Both are loaded mag, empty chamber.
Why? Because I'm in and out of this safe a couple times a month to remain proficient. It is a small safe and occasionally when removing a pistol my fingers will touch the trigger or find their way into the trigger guard. While it is unlikely I'd ever squeeze enough pressure to engage the striker, it's still a possibility.
In the larger safe sits a lightweight AR 15 loaded with xm193. But that takes more time to open up. It is again loaded with a magazine, nothing in chamber. Not concerned about getting my fingers in the rifle trigger, but if there was a fire I'd hate for the rounds to cook off in the chamber of a rifle.
