I agree the problem is the roster, but the sheer volume of exempt folks selling new off roster guns clearly precludes it being a few "good" LEO's just "clearing out the safe". There's a cost to doing business the right way and these folks aren't following it. Which is going to piss off the folks that do. Who do you think rats out all the unlicensed tradesmen? It's not the customers usually, because all they want is a good deal.

you do know people with parents, grandparents or kids out of state can obtain said off-roster pistols new too right?I agree the problem is the roster, but the sheer volume of exempt folks selling new off roster guns clearly precludes it being a few "good" LEO's just "clearing out the safe". or those that recently moved into CA can bring lots of new off-roster pistols to sell to help with unexpected moving expenses.
while LEO's are the biggest supply of off-roster since they can easily buy it here in state, they aren't the only supply.Originally posted by leelawBecause -ohmigosh- they can add their opinions, too?Originally posted by SoCalSig1911Preppers canceled my order this afternoon because I called them a disgrace... Not ordering from those clowns again.Originally posted by PrepperGunShopTruthfully, we cancelled your order because of your lack of civility and your threats ... What is a problem is when you threaten my customer service team and make demands instead of being civil. Plain and simple just don't be an a**hole (where you told us to shove it).Comment

Apparantly the shop owner STILL believes he has the right to refuse service to anyone.Comment

My bad experience with Iron Sights and off-roster PPT was due to their lack of correct knowledge about the new excluded classes of law enforcement that cannot resell an off roster. So, Iron Sights nixed my buy from a sheriff's officer, which WAS legal. Being my 1st encounter with that new law, I didn't know either and accepted their ruling, and we dropped the PPT.
After I got home, I researched and also asked on Calguns and members got it right....the deal should've been allowed. Called Iron Sights to advise and the owner agreed to do the deal....but by then the sheriffs officer withdrew the sale out of fear.
As far as Saddleback Valley Gun, I've also heard of bad dealilngs there due to attitudes

I’ve sold three off roster handguns in my life; all were sold for what I paid for them. If an FFL treated me like the one in the OP I would have gladly taken my business elsewhere and ensured everyone I knew heard about it. The joke of a dealer isn’t just making a stand against LEO’s (possibly) flipping a gun for profit; he is also denying some poor guy who probably really wants to buy a handgun that he can’t otherwise obtain due to the stupid roster.Stay classy, CGF and Calguns.Originally posted by bwiese[BTW, I have no problem seeing DEA Agents and drug cops hanging from ropes, but that's a separate political issue.]Comment

I did a PPT 2 weeks ago and then after we finished the PPT I bought a $2k gun from the dealer unexpectedly. It isn't the first time and wont be the last that me or the other party dropped some unplanned coin with the dealer after the PPT.This is the sheer stupidity of the FFL. The $10 PPT process was partially sold to the industry as a tool to drive business into their shops. Basically, the seller has completed the sale, likes guns, has a pocket full of cash, and is standing on your sales floor. TAKE THEIR MONEY!!!
This guy wants to argue the issue, has spent more than $10 of his time doing so, gets nothing but bad press, and may get some DOJ “love” out of it.
Not a strong business model.
I just don't get the ones who give an attitude about having qualified prospects walk in the door even if their original plan is just to PPT. They should try and at least convert them to a customer instead of giving them the runaround.Last edited by SkyHawk; 03-26-2019, 3:42 PM.Comment

I have not bought any guns via PPT, but if I did I would purchase ammo, cleaning supplies, etc. from the FFL who did the PPT so that he makes a little more money. I might even buy a gun from them right then.
Good will goes a long way.
