I remember how well that turned out for Sports Authority. Hopefully Dick's will have the same result.sigpic

Do you realize that it was Dick's that bought Sports Authority when it went bankrupt?
And doesn't Dick's realize, that if they simply become another chain of Sports Authority, they'll go bankrupt too?
Looking at Dick's P&L alone tells you they are looking at a terrible future. Sure, they got a feel-good boost from one-and-done anti-gun Soccer-moms buying Christmas presents there last year or the occasional beach-towel or $1.99 pool-floaty on sale during the "let's support Dick's because they are for gun control" crap, but that doesn't last, that's not loyal customer business. Those are the usual Walmart and Amazon customers that merely gave Dick's a bite for political posing, but they won't go back.
The 1st quarter this year was merely a boost from Christmas sales, but without a core specialty, they will flounder and die as they will be no different than an overpriced Shoe and fancy T-shirt stores with a ton of overhead in facilities to manage.
Toys-R-Us is the perfect example that shows how the latter is a mistake now days against internet availability for mass-produced, cookie-cutter items, at lower cost. Nothing is unique, and the same toy from them is the same as online, at a lower cost.
But guns? no, it's jut not as easy to buy guns over the internet; at least not in CA anyway, and you still need a receiving FFL in most states. So for Dick's to carve out guns, hunting, and ammo is a dumb idea. A billion dollar business for items not so easily bought over the internet.
Meanwhile, it seems like Turners is expanding at a rate of 2 new stores per month in California, and Palmetto is doing the same with opening new retail outlet stores through South Carolina and plans to expand more stores in the next few years.
Hmmm... Sears stops selling guns and ammo, other specialty goods, goes nearly bankrupt and shuttering hundreds of stores inside of a decade. Kmart stops selling guns and ammo, other specialty goods... goes nearly bankrupt and shuttering hundreds of stores inside of a decade.

My growing list of boycot companies:
Starbucks, Surefire, Dicks, Gillette, CNN, HBO, Netflix when they release the Obama show, Levi’s, Nike, and other company that gets involved in political pc pandering. I’m pretty hardline on this never set foot in any of their store and don’t use or support any products even if offered to me for free..like a cup of crappy Starbucks ☕️Comment
