What insane person gets a firearm at a big box store.

I never got anything beyond .22 ammo anyway.

It turns out when they heard, "Gun grabbers love dicks," that meant something completely different than what they thought it meant.

Every time I drive by the Dick's here in PV the parking lot is deserted. Can't say I know what it's like on the inside.
I've never seen an American flag burned at a gun show.

I agree with you. Whether it was a business decision or political is irrelevant,
they don't see firearms as part of their sales model and don't need it. Sales may be down 3-4%, but their profit/earnings is up.

Gun sales probably dropped off from the gun owner boycott. They seem to be hell bent to become the next Sports Authority, just selling irrelevant crap you can buy off Amazon.

At least with selling guns you need to go into the store, and you will probably buy other things as well. Now they have really nothing to bring people in. Even REI at least has some unique products you can't find anywhere else.

Probably no coincidence that Dick's scooped up a lot of Sports Authority.

Funny. Because if you had gone to the news section of the page you linked, the first article on the page, posted today, is:

Dick's Sporting Goods sees another quarter of falling profit, gun sales

"Shares of Dick's Sporting Goods toppled after the retailer posted another quarter of falling profit. The company's restrictions on gun sales playing a significant role in profit decreases."
I've never seen an American flag burned at a gun show.

It's not really a boycott, just without the guns there isn't much reason to ever go to their store.

A more Up to Date Appraisal:

Why Dick's Sporting Goods Stock Dropped 10% on Tuesday
The Motley Fool. March 12, 2019.

Nevertheless, Dick's earnings did decline year over year, falling 4%
from the $1.11 per share earned in Q4 2017 (a quarter in which the
retailer benefited from a 14th week being included). Sales, similarly
impacted by the calendar quirk, declined 6.5%, and
                  same-store sales declined 2.2%.
Sales declined 2% to $8.4 billion.
Management's plan to stop selling guns at 125 of its stores this year
will likely be one of the factors hurting profit growth.
So Dick's Progressive Virtual Signaling, to placate the Democrats
Anti-2A Agenda, has hurt them, but not enough for the Clowns
in upper management to stop their Ideological War on Gun Rights
                  and Gun Owners.

Personally, I will continue to discourage anyone from going to Dicks,
and ask them to spread the word about Dicks back-stabbing Betrayal.

We might not be able to put them out of Business, but we can try
and soften their Growth and Revenue as much as possible.

Lots of stores like this have come & gone (Oshmen's, Hermen's, Copeland's, Sports Authority)- maybe Dick's going the same way next? But somehow Big 5 just keeps trucking along. Always people shopping in Big 5 and buying stuff whenever I go in there.

They must be counting on all the snow flakes who have no money or work ethic to support them.
                      Good luck with that.

When Big 5 puts stuff on sale, it's usually a decent sale price. Dick's sale prices are rarely anything to get excited about IMO.

I am absolutely boycotting them. Why anyone would want to enrich and empower an organization that actively tries to remove their rights is beyond me.

Yeah but betting they can beat REI at their own game probably isn't going to work. Reminds me how CNN took a hard left turn, lost all their center and center right viewers, but couldn't pull the lefty viewers off of MSNBC. Now CNN's ratings are based on people walking through airports.

Whenever I go into the Medford REI I feel like I've been instantly transported to Berkeley, for many that has a certain cachet. The local Dick's is like Walmart without the food and auto parts.

I liked the Dicks store in Santa Clarita and bought a golf club. The store was well lit, clean and store employee's were courteous, helpful and polite.

Too bad for them I will NEVER enter their store after the ANTI GUN agenda they signed on to.

As an aside I was watching the stock price and after the boycotts it didn't seem too move much either way.

Im guessing the institutional stock buyers are buying it because its NEVER a good idea too alienate a customer base!
