    Humorous Big 5 Encounter

Inadvertantly, the other day I said what I believe to be one of the more clever come-backs to an anti-gun liberal at Big 5.

I was purching some 12 guage steel 4 shot for hunting ducks and some this liberal next to me who was looking at camping gear nearby said, "I don't see why they sell guns and ammunition here there's no legitimate sporting purpose for them." I figured I could give him my whole lecture about hunting, the second amendment, and American history or I could just save time and give him a one liner. So I said the first thing that popped into my head:

"When you can show me how to kill a duck with a football I'll be in agreement with you."

Anyhow just wanted to put that line out there, please feel free to use it on your favorite (or least favorite) anti-gun liberal !

Good for you. I had a lib woman screaming at me inside the Sportsmans Supply when in small talk, I informed the salesman when paying for a handgun that I was going deer hunting the following week.

This was about 15-years ago now, but she was calling me all sorts of names and insults regarding the size of my ... well you know because I hunted. I couldn't get rid of her as she was in my face. Her goofy hubby also got in on the action only was being the soft spoken good guy going on about there were better things to do than hunt...

I told to call her Representative to ban hunting, but until then, get the ... out of my face.

It's time we start fighting back against these fascist anitgunner types.

what I love is when people are walking buy the walmart ammo desk, and they see me and my roomate paying for about 300 rounds of .223, the look on their faces is something to be treasured.

I bet she stepped outside and tucked into a ham sandwich. I'm amazed how many people give me hassle for hunting but eat meat. I guess animals grown in plastic bags.

                I would have clocked her.....

I actually was at Tower and buying some gun magazines (the paper kind). And the girl at the checkout stand took them, rang them up, looked at me and said "I hate guns, I don't know why you need them".

I responded "Have you ever even fired a gun?"....she answered "No". So I responded "until you do and hence know a little about what you are talking about, I suggest you keep your mouth shut and others presume your dumb rather than opening it and proving them right"....

I was going to say something about how she didn't say a single thing about the guys in front of me purchasing the porn mags...but decided not to.

I agree....It's time we gun nutz start speaking up against these Anti's who often time are only Anti's because it's the "fashionable" thing to do. Most of them have never touched a gun and rely on the MMM and Brady center for their "facts".

haha, I alway's get, "Did you say you wanted 10 boxes?" when I buy my .223 at Wal-Mart. I just nod and say, "You're right, better make it 12.".

When you buy water bottles by the case, you're thrifty or well-prepared. When you buy ammo by the case, you're a dangerous nutjob. Go figure.

NICE comeback, btw. I can see that becoming an internet classic. Might even pop up on snopes w/ a fictional backstory

Some guy on arf or rimfire (I forget) was telling about how he hated buying ammo from walmart because he was clearly old enough to buy rifle or pistol ammo yet they would always ask him. The same guy asking him, a ~60 year old guy, if it was pistol or rifle everytime he went in, but the prices couldn't be beat so he went in anyway. So he started getting tired of it and decided he should do something about it. One day he started getting annoyed at the inability of the guy to get his job done quickly and noticed a lengthy line had started to form. So when he got to the counter he bought a (in non-gun owners eyes) rather large amount of ammo. When the guy finally asked "Rifle or Pistol?" he simply looked at the guy and said "Neither. Machine Gun." and let half of his somber looking face turn to a smirk. The guy looked at him like he was going to die and handed him the bag of ammo without saying another word. As he turned to leave the line was gone.

In response to this another poster went on to say he too hated being asked if it was for pistol or rifle. He was also clearly old enough (although not as old as the original poster) and said that he had found a way to deal with it as well. When they ask him "Pistol or Rifle?" he would look down as he pulled out his moeny and would just reply with "yes". He said it was always funny to feel that awkward moment they had as they didn't know what to put in but were too embarassed to ask and find out.

                              I've heard those stories.

Last weekend I was looking at the Marlin 1895 lever action at Big 5. Being <21, I asked the guy if I would be able to purchase ammo to use in the gun since it is, after all, techincally 'dual use' ammo. [The law says one thing, but since it also leaves it up to the seller's discretion....]He might have been full of it and just wanting to make a sale, but he said all I had to do was state the ammo was for a rifle. Pretty nice guy if he was for real (I had kind of assumed that Big 5 was going to have a CYA policy).

If anyone has one of those .45ACP conversions for a 12ga, you can say, "Neither. It's for my shotgun."
