Kaiser Dr pre check list "Guns"

I just completed my yearly physical, they added a few new items to the pre-check list.. See page 4 Do you own any guns?

If you say yes does it get logged into a medical report.

I don't have a single medical issue, I just didn't like medical know that much about my personal life...

The problem is in the current environment saying nothing is also a Yes.

If the answer in both cases is "none"... then I'd say you have as much business answering honestly as they do, asking to begin with. Which is to say, none at all.

Leaving it blank is considered a de facto "yes", btw.

I have walked out of a Dr's office when paperwork pried into my private business. You have options, use them.

If the form you attached was for a physical, you may want to ask why they are asking mental health questions using a Psychiatric/Mental Health intake form.

I wouldn't have answered anything on that form and asked them if they made a mistake and to give me the form for the annual physical.

Unless you were asking for mental health help...that entire from is Nun'Ya...

Imagine living in a community where the doctor just knew his patients, and if you showed signs of dementia or mental illness would just call your family and have a talk about taking your car/firearms.

Ive recently declined to fill out that kind of paperwork at my PCP visit. When they asked why I stated "because your asking questions that have nothing to do with my health and there are mental health questions one here and you're a medical health office". The office manager was not please and said they can not process the visit without it. I looked and her, her me and the PCP just came out and said "just run the process without it. This is happening to much now".

I wasn't the only one to do that. A lot of people are not answering these for fear they will be used against them. We don't trust the gov. The medical field is getting to political. So we have distrust all around.

It looks like this form is for the Dept of psychiatry. Im guessing they are trying another tactic to eliminate firearms from those who could be a problem, although it does seem stupid to ask about guns when so many other methods are available for suicide or even mass murder.

I would not answer anything on that form, unless I was in for that type of treatment.

Anything on any checklist or questionnaire, and also including questions they ask you, can end up in a database. Last time I went to the doctor, here in Texas, the nursing assistant asked me the questions and typed the answers into the terminal in the room.

Yeah I know, HIPPAA and all that right? Well things are secure and protected, until they are not. Just ask Marriott. Just ask the government whenever they decide to change or add a law or change/add regulations that change the way information is handled.

I can only control the information I alone possess and I'm not going to have a "Decline to answer" related to firearms possession in any database.
