    Doctors Office

Kiddo was starting kinder and one of the requirements foe enrollment was that she take a physical before school started......usually i have Fridays off so me and the misses took her in. Everything was pretty mormal at the docs office even the constant harrasment about getting the flu vaccine. They start asking all these questions about alcohol use of drugs and tobacco and im pretty indifferent about all this so i answer the questions till he asked me if there were guns in the house and if so how many.

Had me bothered and i asked him whats this have to do with my kids physical. Before he started mumbling a answer i told him it wasnt his damn business. Wife asked me to take a walk so i did

What the hell is going on in California.

I just don't get what the purpose of the question is, even when I try to give them the benefit of the doubt... If you say yes, do they recommend you not have a gun in the house because it's dangerous, or do they just "mmm-hmm, and are you checking your testes for lumps on a regular basis?"

I just check the No box, because they are in my safe or my holster not in my house.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

Yeah, some here in Utah ask on their questionaires. Three places to check... Yes No N/A. I pick not applicable since it isn't applicable to Dr visit.

Write in underneath the question, how many people have doctors killed this year.

The CDC has come out with opinions and recommendations on this. Since guns cause some level of morbidity and mortality in our society they feel like they have a say so.
The CDC has changed from the center for disease control, to the center for disease control and PREVENTION. as such they get to have formal on almost anything that "could" effect someones or a communities health.

a strange world of increasing government we live in
I predict it will not get any better.

                just say no.

by being either defensive or checking n/a you are pretty much outing yourself to a yes.

                  You really showed him.

I was an idiot, and was honest and you know what happened? The jerk reminded me to wash my hands after shooting and cleaning. The nerve! He even suggested that I keep my guns locked up! What kind of an idiot keeps guns locked up around children, I raise my son right he knows not to play with guns even though he doesn't know how to while his bottom!

Yeah, you definitely don't want to get yourself or your kids tested for lead exposure, it's none of their business if you are exposed to highly toxic heavy metals.

Calguns, where you'll put an NRA sticker on the back of your truck, but don't trust the people who poke your balls to know you have guns.

No need to be confrontational. The docs are required to ask the question. My kid's pediatrician wasn't comfortable asking it, but it was on the form.

I never understood why people are afraid of answering that question.

"You got guns in the house?"
                            "yup."
                            "How many?"
                            "Lots."
                            "Are they stored safely?"
                            "Yup."
                            "kthx. Moving on..."

Also: "constant harrasment about getting the flu vaccine" You mean the vaccine that's designed to help protect your kid against an illness that has the potential of killing them? What a jerk!

My sons’ pediatrician used to ask a series of safety type questions when they were young.

Do you wear a safety belt in the car?
Do you wear a helmet when you bike or scooter?
Are there any guns in the house?
                              Are they locked up?

He’s a great doctor and I never thought anything about the questions except that he cared about my kids.
