    Ammo safe,

I want to pick up a inexpensive safe to stack my ammo in. I was think the Sentry 5 gun thats offered over at Wallmart. Delivery is only 18 bucks. Anyone have some feedback on this one?
How would it do for ammo stacking?

    Thanks guys.

You should make your own shelf to organize better.
Maybe lay the safe sideways, so the door opens towards you, swings down. Put some 2X4 under to give some space for door to clear.
Then maybe you won't need shelf.
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

You can correct my spelling and grammar error anytime.
I welcome it. How else would I learn.

Yeah that could work. You can just build your own shelves to fit your ammo but just make sure they can hold the weight.
        Insert something clever here.

Thats not a bad idea at all. Right now I have a big 30+ gun safe from cabelas and I built some good shelfing over it. If I were to lay it on its side, I'm sure the dimensions could work. Thats some good food for thought.

I use a longgun safe 'freezer style' - aka the safe on its back with the door on the top.

I was lucky enough to get a free flamables cabinet from work, I have bars padlocked over the front.

You could just get a cheap metal cabinet. If you are doing it right, it should be heavy enough to stop anyone from moving it (because it is full).

I use a lockable heavy duty Hon two door metal storage cabinet which I picked up for a good price when a local tech company went under.

The Hons are much more solid than the average office storage cabinet. The shelves hold as much weight as I can fit on them and are movable which is nice if you store ammo in metal ammo cans or dry boxes. This set-up also gives me room to lock up my range bag and other gun related items that I don't want out and about.

Yeah, that's what I would do if I didn't already have my cabinet.

Once it's full, no one is going to move it.

Use an old Freezer, 20 bucks at the junk yard, has shelves already, airtight, WELL insulated. Just screw a hasp to it and ad a padlock.

I've read that you should not put ammo (or any other explosives) in a safe as it can be really dangerous for firefighters in the event of a fire...

                              Something to think about...
