i bought my Ruger 3" stainless .357 online about 3 years ago - Tombstone Tactical

    $549.99 w/free shipping

my ffl charged me $50 to receive it, plus DROS and tax

best deal i could find locally was $679.99 before DROS and tax and a 3 week wait - he was basically gonna order it in himself, get his mark up, blah blah

nobody around seemed to carry the 3" in stock so I didn't feel obligated to support a LGS by buying something they didn't have in stock and would have to order themselves

Pretty sure you don't have to have it until you start DROS.

Make sure you understand the costs the FFL can charge when ordering online vs. buying at a walk-in store.

Make sure the FFL will release on "undetermined", just in case.

      What are you getting?

      Good luck.

This is important. Go to your local FFL first.

I dunno OP, you are setting the bar kinda high to start with, why don’t you begin with a Glock 19, so that way nothing else can dissapoint you?

                Hey new guy:

The Calguns Rule is always to buy both!

(Just to let you know, hanging out here gets expensive. )

Avoid Darto, Calamity Sue, Lt. Silverhawk and a few others in the Deals section.
Those guys have cost me a lot.

The Commander Classic Bobtail is an excellent gun. I got one recently, and I'm now in the process of adding it to my permit to become my primary carry gun -- that's how much I love it. But if you want a full-size Government 1911, you might want to consider the DW Pointman Seven instead of the smaller DW CBob.

Sharpshooter does not release on undetermined so I have only done one PPT there.
                        Worth talking to them though.
Everyone there is nice except Fred can be grumpy at times.
                        "Old School" is pretty polite.

Crosshairs would be my starting point, but I have only shopped there for supplies, not guns.
They were nice before they changed management, I have heard they are even better now.

CAP Tactical in Lawndale I have not used, but worth a check.

                            Purchasing first handgun

Get the FSC first. Because you don't want to pay a storage fee or restocking fee if you don't pass the FSC test, and need to wait to retake it.

I agree with taking it first, but you have to work hard to fail that test.

                              Personal experience?
