Just need the fsc before doing dros. They don’t ask for it when ordering online.my Benitez goes to 11 -
Welcome.
Pretty sure you don't have to have it until you start DROS.
Make sure you understand the costs the FFL can charge when ordering online vs. buying at a walk-in store.
Make sure the FFL will release on "undetermined", just in case.
What are you getting?
Good luck.Originally posted by Kestryll:

Yes, make sure it's on the roster first. Also for most handguns like Glocks or Sigs it isn't cost effective to order online. After the shipping, transfer fee, & taxes (yes taxes!) the $50 you saved is swamped by the $100 in extra costs.---------------------

Buying a gun online is like online dating and matchmaking. It can be a good experience, but it is often if not usually wrought with problems for the novice.
I'd suggest you go to a local gun store and get something there. The prices won't be too far off the online retailers, and if the LGS has been there awhile, a few extra bucks will be well spent.Benefactor Life Member, National Rifle Association

Well the difference in price between buds and lgs s about $500. I’ll stoll give the lgs a chance. If they can come within $100 I’d say it’s worth it, otherwise I need to decide with my wallet lolComment

Find a local FFL that you can talk with and then order it and process thru them...most of them will be glad to help and ask them questions about the forms they have and the ones you need to fill out...follow all the stupid rules and it should be fairly smooth...just costly, time consuming, restrictive choices and only done by evil gun owners...
Good luck OP..Wilson Protector .45, Springer 9mm Loaded, Franchi Instinct SL .12ga. and some other cool stuff for the kiddos...Comment

Post location , maybe someone can start you off with a PPT so you save on tax and shipping , etc. It'll be about $150 in savings for a $575 gun.Comment

I dont order guns because of the chance they send you a demo / floor model and also the chance on having a flaw that you normally see when buying at regular gun shops
I tried ordering a few guns in the past and a few had flaws, one was mis marked the wrong caliber, and another I paid extra for hand select, and they sent me one that looked like it was dragged behind a tank and the safety was loose.
I rather pay more and just buy it at the gun store, where I can closely examine it before buying.Comment

I also suggest buying from (reasonably) nearby gun shop.
- You will be able to get your hands on the pistol/revolver to see how well it fits you, and try others as well.
- You can do the FSC test at the same time you do the DROS.
- You will have the opportunity to develop a relationship with the owner and or employees.
- You will be able to closely inspect the weapon you are buying.
- You can also buy some ammo and cleaning supplies at the same time.
I am big proponent of buying local whenever I can--the money you spend stays local.
