I won't be going to any guns shows until ammo and gun prices return to normal - and they will. This fabricated, buying frenzy, inflated price-market is as ridiculous as the ballooning housing and gold market. None of these things are irreplaceable. And $14 for a gun show? I'll pass. And did.

Currently buying ammo at a gun show and expecting a great price over retail or mail order at this stage is futile. The wasted time, the cost of the show, etc., the drive and gas; from what I have seen, you would save more just buying direct at a place like Ammo Bros. Ammo prices had always been exceptional bargains in the past, but lately, the prices parallel brick-and-mortar stores.

If I want to visit CWS and buy something from them, the only reason I considered hitting Costa Mesa, I would rather spend less in gas to drive out to Riverside to see them.

Just got back,it was not too bad, from talking to some of the vendors, yesterday was chaotic compared to this moring. Found what I need though...6mm-233 dies, reloader, components.. no powder, some primers, no brass... overall it was a good day, they were willing to negotiate on price a little.. did not see a lot of people buying though, more like lookie lou's ..

      Ammo Prices
      1000 wolf 7.62x36 $250
      1000 Wolf 223 $399
      Yugo 7.62x38 non-magnetic $15-$17 per 40rds
223 mil surplus $0.50 per round
308 Gold Medel $30 per box of 20

      Large Rifle Primer WIN $38

A vendor who I bought a Stag from in Oct/Nov? for $800ish is now selling the same rifle for $1,800.

But over all I did see some new vendors with some nice stuff. (one booth resembled a retail store with lots of cool 511 stuff) I picked up some odds and ends (about the best thing the gun show is for) some ammo cans and even a couple of MREs to impress my daughter and have a little camping night with her.

Overall not a bad morning spent.

Maybe the gun show will slow down for a bit the local Wally World invasion of people scrambling to buy ammo.
Hey, was your friend the person I sold my VIP pass to? I got there and saw an older gentleman and I thought he was by himself and I would have hated to see him wait in that long line so I offered him one of my passes for $14. But I remember he gave it to his friend instead and we went in together with our passes.

Went later AM. Same stuff as before, prices are not that good. $19 to park and enter to save $5.00 on the pistol-grip I bought. Bought some rail covers also. Overall killed time.

Was the show at the fairgrounds? If so, don't pay, just park accross the street at the university for free. That is what I always did, well I actually lived there so I could just walk to the fairgrounds. But you should still be able to park there.

I went Saturday and had a great time. Yeah the line was huge to get in but that was just because we were linded up before it opened. The Miwall booth was rather insane and prices were definitly up from last time.
I was really tempted by a couple used guns I saw. There was a really clean Kimber Custom II for $550 that was just broken in. I also saw a nice pre-lock 686 for $425. That Kimber kept calling for me but its just something I didn't need and I had already spent too much.

                              Izzy = Israeli

They made a heavy barrel squad-automatic-weapon version of the FAL.

oh.........OK. You got me all excited for nothing. The Ontario show is just another Crossroads show like Costa Mesa, Del Mar, etc. There was nothing like the Great Western; I miss it alot.
