No as you say in your last sentence he should get life without parole. We do not reform the violent in prison. Maybe someone will magically come up with a way to do so. But all we do now is keep them off the streets. Until we figure out how to reform them they should stay there. You like to say in a perfect world. In a perfect world we wouldn’t be asking this question in a poll.

That's great.. when we achieve your utopia where the violent felons stay in prison then I will change my mind.
For now I deal with reality and reality is that the scum gets out, way too soon, so I will keep my current point of view

Yeah, but most DO NOT get life without parole.....so they get out. Then you say “We do not reform the violent in prison.” So the violent get out ....and immediately get full restoration of gun rights?
So here’s an example from today’s news. Joseph Lewis, currently-suspended USC wide receiver, just did his plea bargain of 21 DAYS in jail for domestic violence with injuries, and was released.
— As part of the deal, Lewis was sentenced to 36 months summary probation; 60 days in county jail; a 10-year ban on owning, using or possessing firearms; enrollment in a weekly yearlong domestic violence treatment program and a protective order that prohibits him from approaching within 100 yards of the victim or contacting her according to the Times.
He should be restored all gun rights right now, since he did his 21 days of jail?
The VICTIM would only be entitled to get 21 days of stress-free life back?
Sure, Lewis can get a gun in illegal ways....if he wants to chance jail again....but shouldn’t the odds be tipped in the victim’s favor a little?
Why would we reward getting out of jail?

Did he shoot a gun in this domestic violence? Is the gun restriction because of the 100 yard restriction and guns shoot further than 100 yards? If he got a gun ignoring the 10 year restriction, could he ignore the 100 yard restriction and use something else?As part of the deal, Lewis was sentenced to 36 months summary probation; 60 days in county jail; a 10-year ban on owning, using or possessing firearms; enrollment in a weekly yearlong domestic violence treatment program and a protective order that prohibits him from approaching within 100 yards of the victim or contacting her according to the Times.
If you're going to punish them for 10 years why put them in jail? Are you saying he should have gotten 10 years in jail?sigpic

Thanks for agreeing with me that the world isn't perfect.. appreciated. So basically what you are saying is because our justice system is broken you are willing to have the 2nd amendment infringement. What other rights are you willing to give up or have watered down because of government incompetence? As part of the deal, Lewis was sentenced to 36 months summary probation; 60 days in county jail; a 10-year ban on owning, using or possessing firearms; enrollment in a weekly yearlong domestic violence treatment program and a protective order that prohibits him from approaching within 100 yards of the victim or contacting her according to the Times.Comment

And? I thought I'd made that abundantly clear, and I don't consider that any sort of insult. Then we should have no laws since all laws COULD lead to more laws.. lol
It's weak argument.. sorry
It's not a fault of the sensible law that the people allow the govt to over reach with stupid laws.
So, I will put you in the "I'm ok with allowing convicted violent felons and the insane to buy guns" catagory

In the real world this poll means diddly sh*t. This is about what should be, not what can be done next week. Or do you really think the PTB will look at this poll and implement the desires of CalGUNs posters forthwith?
