It would be very interesting to know exactly HOW MANY so-called "assault weapons" were registered, after it's all over with...

I wonder if the state will publish that information?

We might be able to find out later through a public records act request. I'm guessing the total will be something like 100k people registered about 250k guns. Probably around a 5% registration rate out of all the eligible firearms.
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

Thinking that might be optimistic given how few people actually knew about the registration requirement. Think of the petition drive back in 2016, how many signatures did we get after all the legwork and outreach? That was for a mere signature. No real public outreach was undertaken here and we still have many people unaware of the requirement. How many will go through the pain of registering through the CFARS website? I'd genuinely love to find out either way.

You may be right, it's hard to say. I do know the CFARS website has been getting absolutely hammered with traffic the last few weeks, so definitely quite a few are registering, but it's impossible to form an estimate based only on how much a website crashes. Their website is trash, so for all I know it might only take 10 people using it at once to make it crash

I'd bet money that it will be closer to about 50k firearms registered.

My took 5 months with multiple error corrections. And I had submitted many different types from generic AR to one-offs.

It would also seems DOJ assign different type of weapon to different folks to review. You can tell by the message sent by the checkers. Another indication of progress is once submitted, did you get an email notification indicated they have receive your submission and pls wait for the letter? If you get that email, it typically suggest the weapon has passed inspection.

Once you get the email notification for all your submissions, it typically took 2 to 3 weeks before the letter arrives.

I have noticed AR is the fastest being inspected, FAL seems to be the slowest.

Wow, if you're right, that's a TON of future felons out there.

Nah, more than that. That's not even enough for the Calguns users!

I think the issue with converting a BB rifle to featureless after 7-1 while waiting for a RAW letter would be that once you get your letter, installing AW features back on your rifle would be considered "manufacturing" a AW...

Best thing to do on 7-1 would be to separate the upper from the lower, get one of those dinky padlocks and install lock on the lower pivot pin hole then keep the lower locked away until you get your RAW letter...

Separating the receivers would work, yes.

If you make it featureless, make sure you still leave the BB on. This is very important. DOJ has taken the position that you may not ever, ever, under any circumstances, replace your BB with a standard button on a BBAW. They provide a narrow exemption for people who are "undergoing the de-registration process", but there is no exception for "temporarily featureless" firearms.

I registered on 6/18/18. My online account does not show anything pending and the only thing i've received was a receipt for the $15 but no other email or anything. I'm starting to get concerned that the application did not post at all. I just emailed them to ask (tried to call but couldn't get through the phone tree) but I'm not sure I'll get a response in time.

You can find it online, but you need to use menu on the left to register first, then you can see statis

Thank you, I found it after this (mine was in the bottom right?) and not in the pending section but it does show that it is in progress at least.
