Not really sure of your question, if you meant why "doesn't your passport suffice"? It does, your passport can be used in lieu of you birth certificate.

    • Provide proof of identity, such as a certified U.S. birth certificate, valid U.S. passport, employment authorization document, permanent resident card or foreign passport with an approved form I-94.
    • Show a California residency document that includes your physical California resident address. Documents addressed to a PO Box must include the physical resident address on documents (for example utility bills).
    • Present proof of your Social Security number, such as a SSN card, W-2 or paystub with your name and full SSN.

Next time, should I post telling you to use the search function? Since this has been covered in multiple threads, in multiple sub-forums, ever since it became an issue in January/February.

Or i could tell you that you should be a CRPA/NRA member, because if you were, you would've received these updates in your email.

Can't really speak to this, what I posted had nothing to do with the PC, or 80% pistols, so....

Aside from that, hopefully your need to read a relative PC doesn't arrive to late. These cocksucker's change things so often, it's virtually impossible to stay on top of it.

They still want my SS card. My Passport (or passport card) should suffice.

Their proof of residency requirement is a joke. I have one utility and their bill comes via email - with a simple text editor anyone can change the address to whatever they want.

Print the list from their webpage to show them they are wrong? I dunno, I guess it's kind of a pick your battles situation, order up a new birth certificate, or chance lowering your iq by arguing with a government drone....

I made an appointment at DMV for two weeks from now and plan to ask a lot of questions.

I plan to get only the ID card and leave my drivers license as is with the "federal limits apply" wording.

I'm doing this mostly just out of curiosity and for the slight chance that I'll need it at the beginning of next year when they start the ammunition purchasing license or what-ever they'll end up calling it.

I'll let you know how what I find out.

The purpose for these threads is to help each other. It may sound combative at times but I'll stand my ground if you guys can't show me something compelling.

Again, I'm sharing my actual experiences with selling 5 and buying 6 , at different FFL's. For the last two I aatualy asked about my non-real ID drivers and they didn't have an issue as long as I provided proof of physical address, but that has more to do with my drivers having a PO Box address instead of my physical address.

From what I'm reading here it seems that if an FFL denies your non-real ID license, go to another FFL!

I renewed my CDL with real ID early and didn't take any written test.

The only time you should be required to take the written again is the first renewal after age 70. I believe it's about 17 questions. Got my RealID in 7 days.

Picked up my sixth firearm dros'd with Federal limits apply license.

If an FFL denies you, find another FFL!

I took no test, but did study the drivers handbook just in case. I also took the DMV sample online tests before hand.

They did not punch my old drivers license. My old license is still good for three weeks and it can take three to four weeks to get the new one mailed to me. They also gave me a temporary paper license that is good for two months, just in case the new license arrives late. The license cost me $35.

All the DMV workers were helpful and cordial. I was polite and friendly.

The one I used to go to in Santa Clara almost always had a much shorter line for "no appointment" people.

I don't have a birth certificate. My folks had it, their house flooded, all the stuff was moved to a storage unit, which was robbed. Never had a passport.

You can get replacement ones. I got an extra copy of mine, The Pierce County website was setup to order copies 100% online, identity verification was similar to the online SS card request. When I got a copy in '98(?) my mom just went to the county records department.

To get my passport(or maybe CCW I do not remember) I had an original birth cert from the 1950's. Took it in and was told no good they now use a different type of paper etc. So I went to the county records where I was born and got the "new" official birth cert. Still have my original SS card as well as a replacement.
I am going to try to just send in my money for my new DL and see what happens when I buy a firearm. I will have utility bills, DL, passport, birth cert(both old and new style), CCW lic, SS card, car reg with me.
