My biggest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

The worst part is that they immediately forget what is in their hand and spin away from the line."He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^Getting hit with hot brass is a gift--a training opportunity. Keep those sights on target and keep firing. There might come a day when you're shooting for real, and you get shot yourself, or get hit by flying debris. If your first response is to jump around like a hip-hop dancer, then you've failed--failed miserably. Maintain focus and composure no matter WHAT is happening around you.sigpic

I'm sure it's the same idiots as my friends, because my friends were like that when I tried to enforce stricture rules we went to BLM land to shoot. They said I was too extreme with the safety rules, because I was implementing the same range rules as the RSOs. They liked going to BLM land to shoot because they don't have to follow rules.I am glad people are chiming in. Sometimes I read people complaining about intrusiveness of RSOs. I wonder if these are the same idiots we too frequently observe.
Ideal RSOs would be drill instructor type that set boundaries for safe behavior on firing line. If there is a cease fire and you are still fumbling at your station..time to be kicked out.

In my former glory days (active duty Navy), we did small arms quals at sea. Ratio of RSOs/safety lookouts : shooters were like 1-2:1. We conducted dangerous operations regularly, but we made sure there were safety measures in place to mitigate these risks.
Some of these shooting ranges need to apply ORM
