Dude, just move, or deal with the asinine CA laws. What you're asking about sounds like a great opportunity to land you some criminal firearm charges. Then guess what, you'll be in the NICS prohibited list and won't be able to buy firearms anywhere ever again. Yeah that sounds like it's worth the risk to buy a couple off roster pistols you'll probably shoot a handful of times.

Your first tendency would be to run out and buy the stuff you've been prohibited from buying in CA, but be very selective and try to avoid buying the mundane stuff you can get at anytime. Guns like the Glock Gen5, M&P 2.0, etc. are available at anytime, so don't OD on those. Unlike a good BBQ pork ribs denied to someone who's been living in Saudi Arabia, guns you buy will not get digested in your safe (and if you sell them second hand, you won't get all of your money back.)
I'm still sitting here looking at a Jericho 941, an Sig MPX carbine and a Gen4 G19 I bought on such a lark and thought, "What the heck was I thinking?"sigpic

It's perfectly legal to have a California drivers license and an Arizona ID. AND you can buy firearms while living in your Arizona residence. There are threads with the supporting documentation, I'm just too lazy to look them up for you.sigpicComment

Under Federal laws...
It is illegal for residents of different States to transfer firearms to each other, unless a FFL it utilized. [18 USC 922(a)(3)&(5)]
Failure to utilize a FFL equates to a Federal felony for everyone involved with the transfer. [18 USC 924(a)(1)(D)]
It is illegal for a FFL to transfer a firearm to a resident of a different State, unless the firearm is a Title 1 Rifle or Title 1 Shotgun and the transfer complies with the State laws of the FFL and the non-resident. [18 USC 922(b)(3)]
Under CA laws...
It is illegal for a CA resident to import a firearm they acquired in another State, unless the firearm is imported through a CA FFL dealer. [PC 27585(a)]
Failure to utilize a CA FFL dealer equates to a misdemeanor per long gun and a felony per handgun. [PC 27590(a)&(c)(7)]sigpic

If someone just rents and finds work in AZ then I don't see anything nefarious about moving officially to AZ for few months. Not everyone owns a home or has family in CA.
I could easily transfer to Phoenix divison of my current employer and keep my CA home as vacation home. But I've got only 2 years till retirement and then kiss CA goodbye.Comment
