    Anyone get AZ residency?

Ok, let’s get this out in the open. I, like many of us, have toyed with different ways in which it would be possible to become a resident of AZ while not officially moving out of CA permanently, for the gun buying benefits. I KNOW there are some of you guys with an AZ drivers license sitting in your wallet. This is very useful info for us that continue to suffer under the CA roster/ban. Let’s hear how you went about it. Did you rent an apartment there for a few months? Buy a vacation condo? Sublet a room until you had the license in hand? Live there half the time?

I do believe bringing back off roster handguns to CA under such an arrangement is illegal.

Have the laws changed where someone cannot move into CA from another state with an off roster gun and then get it registered here? Even if they have, for purposes of this topic, we will assume all off roster guns to be left in AZ and not brought back into CA. I don’t want to break the law, I just want to know what’s possible.

Also, if you just "live" in AZ temporarily to get a DL, and then sometime later try to buy a gun in AZ, you'll be committing Federal fraud/perjury when you list an address you moved out of months earlier. You won't get caught right away, but that fraud can't be undone and it might come back to bite you.

You're going to have to pull off a good sell when you tell DMV you've never had a DL before. Because they'll want to take the license you have now and punch a hole in it. There are so many ways you can get caught and the evidence would be ironclad. I think it would be much cheaper overall to pay CA scalper prices and find a PPT.

Buying any firearm out of state without legal residency in that state while a ca legal resident is not legal. No such thing as dual residency lots of posts on this.

              In before Librarian.

You have to completely give up California and move out.

As above, there are a number of threads, all saying “NO!”, just like Marcel Marceau in Silent Movie.

LOL, spend tons of cash on a place just to buy off roster guns.

Looks like another brig bunny trying an illegal end run to buy firearms out of state. Posts like this every week.

A person needs to fully move to the other State and become a resident of that State, in order to be considered a new resident of CA when they move back to CA.

If that person maintains their CA residency, then CA will continue to consider them a CA resident for the purpose of importing firearms into CA.
^Examples of maintaining CA residency = having a valid CA DL/ID, being registered to vote in CA, owning property in CA, paying taxes in CA, going to school/college as a CA resident, being employed by a CA business to work in CA.

As long as the person is a CA resident, that person must utilize a CA FFL dealer to import firearms into CA. [PC 27585(a)]
^Handguns imported in must be listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale or be exempt from it (C&R, OTP, SAE, SSE2).

Failure to ulitize a CA FFL dealer equates to a misdemeanor per long gun and a felony per handgun. [PC 27590(a)&(c)(7)]

Plans for a sham move will be fraught with legal pitfalls, you're not the first one to think of it. If you do, actually plan a permanent move and forget the idea that you will be returning. There is really no future in CA with the Leftists in charge, their control of the media, and their successful conversion of the voting population. Like Western Europe, this state is done for.

This is where the new Real Ids come into play. Once every state has to comply, they can track if people have both drivers licenses in the linked system across the 50 states.

It happens everyday with people who own houses in both Ca and AZ. But when each state is mandatory for Real IDs, they will have to pick or choose which place they want to call home.
