          The person who proposed this idiotic rock chuckin' concept said they could keep the rocks in a classroom closet in a 5 gallon bucket.

          So how is that going to work if a gunman bursts into the room? Is someone going be able to run for the closet, grab a heavy bucket full of river rocks and pass them out to everyone in the room?

          Not a chance.

          These leftist freaks come up with all manner of idiotic "defenses" because they simply can't consider using a firearm to defend students and faculty.

          I guess kids really aren't all that important to them if they can't even consider using a gun.
          ... The liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
          * Creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
          * Satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
          * Augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
          * Rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government

              My comment was a reply to the better than noting comment. And I agree.

              Yes, no doubt, that 30 kids throwing rocks in the confines of a class room, is better than no action at all.

              Oh yes, as the active shooter is going full steam, the kids will form a line to collect their allotted rock from the 5-gallon bucket. That's efficient.

              I could easily bean you in the head with a perfect sized river rock at that range. And if connecting at that range, you will not be able to continue shooting. You would be out cold.

              Nope. An active shooter needs very little capacity to move a finger 3/4ths of an inch to pull a trigger; could do it stunned, eyes closed, looking the other way. laying on the floor; active shooter would have "a mark" as he watches you die.

              Not to mention, I've had that happen under other circumstances of performing a duty; the result was... nothing other than a few times it made me laugh, at worse it made me think "oh, so you want some?".

              Your scripted drama of how you would want it to happen is sure to fail miserably; it might look good in a movie though!

              Don't throw rocks at a bear any more than throwing rocks at an active shooter. Both are going to instantly show you the futility in your belief of this 'throwing rocks' silliness, much to your suffering dire consequences.

              Now multiply that by however many strong throwers might be in the room.

              Still useless; trigger pulls are easy to do, at close range, with eyes closed. The idea of this even being a deterrent is asinine.

              Are there better defective strategies? Of course. That too is a no brainer….

              And those are taught and shown, and instructed in what do to in Active Shooter situations. A teacher with no knowledge or experience, while running on emotion should get the right people for the job to teach these kids some measure of resistance and/or self-preservation, and not come up with asinine Hollywoodized ideology of how he thinks something will play out because he's watched too many re-runs of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'.
              Get your head out of the last Hollywood scene you saw.

              Your notions about an Active Shooter situation are ridiculous.

                If only there was something that could be used that is better than throwing rocks. O ya guns are better than rocks.

                  Clearly they never played "Rock, Paper, Gun" as kids.

                  "Gun" ALWAYS won.

Chunks of rock against a repetitive "thrower" of .223 caliber 55gr chunk of lead traveling at 2250fps.

                          Really easy to see who is going to win that tossing contest.

                          This isn't a David and Goliath Hollywood ending. All rock throwers will be shot on sight. Guaranteed.

                          Imploring a mentality to fight back is a good thing; doing it unrealistically is just silly (throwing rocks) and will get more people killed than if they had take a better course of action.

                          Aren't all non rock throwers going to be shot on sight as well?

                          Cowering under a desk with eyes closed is making it easy. A class room full of kids chucking rocks is a little less so. Maybe enough of a distraction for some one to at least take the shooter off his feet. A poor defense is better than no defense. Use what you've got and die trying.

                            I thought this was a sick joke or something that was floating around the net. But, NOPE! These morons are actually serious that they supplied every classroom with a bucket of "river stones."

                            Apparently they don't know that a gun can probably empty a 30 round magazine by the time they even reach for the bucket.

                            Why are people so stupid?! jeeez

                                So you're student in your classroom as a shooter is heading down the hall shooting people. What are you going to do if the shooter comes in your room?
                                Jump out the second floor window, hide under your desk, throw your eraser, pencil, books at them, or grab a river rock to throw at them?
