Watching the news today and i am almost physicaly sick. Its amazing how children are being used as pawns, and to me its almost like when you have a new born. You are very careful not do anything around them because they are like sponges. They will and do soak up everything around them. The left wingers and news media however recently found this out and are capitalizing on it. Insted of pushing for mental health and gun safety awareness they are pushing for punishments to law abiding gun owners and potential disarmament. I cant help but feel like we have failed our community and our children. How in HEL* have we allowed this to happen. When i see elementary aged school children being marched by their teachers for something they have not the slighest idea about it just makes me sick. I have a younger sister in highschool, the other night she asked me "as a gun owner do you think its to easy to get guns" . I looked at her and said why dont you tell me what you know about guns let alone buying them..... Silence came from her and then the enlightening began. At very least we need to make sure our youth have unbiased information so they can make an educated opinion on these issues in the future. By the way after i talked to my sister she refused to take place in her highschool march today.

Yeah it defiantly will. According to my sister what is being pushed in her bay area school is that All whites are evil, all gun owners are killers, and to have a varying opinion on anything you disagree with means you are a intolerant racist with violent and hateful veiws.

It used to be morally repugnant in this country to use children for political ends...I can tell you one thing, our 17 y/o hunter, shooter rugby and football playing high school junior will not be leaving his classes early today at his public school in Oakland.

It's organized by the anti-gun organizations, supported by actors, news anchors and media on the left.

If kids went to protest on their own time, organized by themselves, standing at the local streets, with NO cameras around to give them exposure they seek, only then would I even consider thinking about this as some social activism.

As it stands, it's like any other organized protest - they'll feel good about themselves for a while then it fizzles away.

Our school did a 15 minute slide show presentation and the 17 minutes of silence for those who wanted to participate.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. No mention of guns or gun types the student speakers referred to the "person(s)" that commit these crimes and looking for the signs of potential issues.

They ended with the "walk up" suggestion.

We had no walk outs some discussion on school safety, but I didn't see but maybe 6 orange shirts, and didn't hear much in terms of political talk, in class I encouraged those asking to be free thinkers and do their homework and research rather than being a sheep or going whatever way the wind blows.

They know my thoughts with a wall of hunting pictures in my classroom.

I wore my gun hat and brought my gun coffee mug.
