              I went to 7-Eleven.

              Only got a Slurpee.

              $107 with a $35 "handling charge".

( I'm okay with the cost but am concerned about the "handling" factor.)

I have no doubt that the $10 doesn’t cover the cost of labor to do it, and that it takes paid sales people away from other activities. But if FFLs don’t like it, they can appeal to lawmakers just like the rest of us have to. Passing along the inconvenient cost to someone else is not OK, and is illegal.

Yeah, it sucks that there are laws that force them to do this for minimal remuneration. It also sucks that there are laws that force us to pay to do a transfer through them, but you don’t see us trying to bilk the LGS out of money to make up for it.

Anytime I do a PPT, I am sure to spend some money in the store – ammo, cleaning supplies, tackle, whatever, even though I can get that stuff cheaper elsewhere.

It never ceases to amaze me how short sighted some FFLs are. Sure they may be able to charge extra (and technically illegal) fees and most people will just pay up and not complain. Sure they hate doing PPTs and only making $10. But treating people fairly on a PPT is a great way to make new customers. Treating them like dirt is a great way to lose customers.

Every time I’ve been treated poorly on a PPT, I’ve vowed to never go back and made sure to tell everyone I know about my poor experience.

Every time I’ve been treated well, I spend money at the store (often buying a new gun from their inventory) and make sure to tell my friends how good of an FFL they are.

Can we just copy the receipt of the illegal over charge and send to DOJ. And let see what DOJ can do any thing about that. Or even better send the copies of the overcharge receipts to :
                      - Sen Harris
                      - Sen Feinstein
                      - Lt. Garvin Newsome
                      - DOJ Rebecca
                      - and don't forget a copy to Jane Fonda.

Less than an hour later I got a call from the store's owner apologizing and asking me where he can send a copy of the DROS.
I also just recently completed a transfer at Gun World in Burbank. This was my first purchase, so there were many things I felt unsure about. I was charged $55 for the transfer. I initially asked that it was $35, he said "here it's $55". I called on pickup day to make sure all was good, and inquired about the $20 extra fee. I was told it was for a cable lock. I wasn't informed of this at the time of transfer, and wouldn't a product have sales tax and not be exactly $20? I was then given the cable lock that was included in the box with the firearm at purchase, and when asked about this the salesperson just shrugged. I assumed at this point that all parties were in agreement that I was being ripped off, so I left. I'm not sure if DOJ can do anything about this as I didn't press the issue for exactly what was going on, and their BS creates a really murky situation. I consider it a $20 lesson learned that if anything seems shady, it's better to go to a different, more reputable FFL.

Next time arm yourself with knowledge so there would be no reason for anyone to rip you off. If you don't arm yourself, nobody to blame but you. $20 lock is ridiculous!! 1. Phone first and see how much PPT is and also inquiring about the "lock" policy at their store on ppt. 2. If they use the "CA approved Lock must be purchased within 30 day and I need a receipt", go to Walmart and buy a lock, after your ppt, return the lock. Most LGS is ok with the lock that's issued with the firearm and not requesting or using the "Lock must be within 30 days rule". Each LGS is different. Also do some homework on the LGS you are going, research to see what others are saying in the past and etc. Do some recon!

Look at the link below to their website, first, they claim they for 3 years straight they are voted the #1 gun store in all SoCal, second, they also claim they are the gun store with the LARGEST inventory in SoCal. Those are some big claims. Is it true?? I don't know. I doubt it. By looking at the advertised weekly specials, its all full boat. So at the end of the day, do homework before going to any LGS. Not everyone is the same.

I know what shop this is oddly other than this usually is a good shop. Weird how they are willing to commit a misdemeanor for $5 extra.

Umm, that is why you should ask the price for any service before you accept that service or commit to it.

Douche baggery is common in every line of business including gun shops and FFLs.

Any store in the bay area (SF and San Mateo, not sure about rest) "overcharges". I understand their rent is high but still it makes more sense for the consumer to drive a bit. $100 for a lower transfer is a lot. Rifles tend to be $150 minimum with guns over $1500 costing 10% to transfer.
