I got my card at my local Big5. No issues. Sounds like someone is making stuff up.

Wait...so vendors have to pay for blank FSCs? Why those evil low down scum in Craptomento. What other commonly used mandated state govt form does one have to pay for?

No. Vendors don't pay for cards in advance...it's web-based. The post right after the one you quoted explained that.

        Better, now?

Big 5 managers comes out says "you can take the FSC test here but you are REQUIRE to purchase a gun here right after".

I'm assuming this is Big 5's policy? or is this something new for every LGS?

If its something Big 5 made up for themselves, is it even legal?

Its been a while since I took mine FSC and maybe i'm out of the loop on this but I have never heard such a thing in the past.

except the guy behind the counter told me I had to pay for the gun before taking the test.; presumably to avoid these situations.

I thought of when I got my current FSC. It was at a Big 5, and I didn't buy anything at that location, other than paying for the FSC. So it is probably just that locations decision to practice being A-holes

So, he can give you the test and risk the possibility that you won't buy one there, or he can send you away and guarantee that you won't.

                    Great business attitude.

Lakewood has been notorious for shenanigans and a lot of the staff has been or is on the verge of being replaced. A good friend of mine is the regional manager and I brought up many of the issues that I have heard on calguns. The 11 day wait has since stopped, he went straight to corporate and was as irritated hearing about it as we all had been on here. I'll bring this up Monday.

Thanks. I would like to know what corporate says. It just boil down to giving my friend (someone new to shooting) not wanting to come back to Big 5 as he was "Forced" to a purchase.

When your friend talks to Corp. ask them why Big Five wants you to sign a paper saying they will keep your 30% down payment if your DROS doesn't get approved in ten days. I just had a major disagreement with the store in Berdo over this. First off they assume the state doesn't make mistakes, which we all know they do. Big Five makes you pay a 30% deposit to purchase a firearm. On a $1500.00 gun you can lose $500.00 for the fifteen minutes the counter guy spent helping you. I told them if I had known of this policy at the beginning of the sale I would never have agreed to it. It was the last paper I was ask to sign. On an inexpensive gun the damage is less. I will never buy a gun that cost over a few hundred dollars from them again. Yes I got my expensive pistol and DROS didn't screw it up. But I will never risk large sums of money betting the state gets it right again. Their argument throughout our discussion was that it was CORPERATE POLICY.

I don't know ow if it's a big box stores thing or what but Turner's does it too, they'll let you transfer the money to another purchase but won't refund you. Don't know if dicks is the same way.

I'm a bit confused here, you got your expensive pistol? Big5 does not conduct transfers or sales of pistols. I will bring it up but like the above posted noted, it should be allowed to be carried over to another transaction. I personally include that in the bill of sale when I am selling something of mine. Only once was a guy very hesitant about the terms, so I chose to sell to someone else. This guy was a friend of a friend, and when he attempted to make a purchase elsewhere his DROS was denied. (Prohibited person) I dodged the bullet so to speak and didn't have to deal with the hassle, I sensed he had a feeling he would be denied from his hesitation on my terms.
