Take him to hunter safety and he can buy a hunting license skip the fsc for long guns.

Hunter safety is an 8 hour deal

FSC is a 10 minute deal

I agree with peeps above.
1. Take test.
2. Get card.
3. Look at a rifle.
4. Ask if you can pick up exactly 240 hours 1 min. (They will say no).
5. Ask to see hand guns.
6. Walk out and tell them no thank you maybe next week.

The only thing I can think of for them doing this is the employee is on the clock and they do not get much for the $25 card.

It's just like gun stores not wanting to do PPT's. They think it's a waste of time and they mistakenly see no value in it.

Havent bought a gun at big 5 since the last Mosin left the store. Only go there for frisbees and clearance sleeping bags now.

So I got a friend of mine into shooting as he never had any interest in the past. After having lunch at Lakewood, I said how about lets go get you a FSC to get started. We were right next to Big 5 so what the heck lets get his FSC there.

Big 5 managers comes out says "you can take the FSC test here but you are REQUIRE to purchase a gun here right after".

I'm assuming this is Big 5's policy? or is this something new for every LGS?

If its something Big 5 made up for themselves, is it even legal?

Its been a while since I took mine FSC and maybe i'm out of the loop on this but I have never heard such a thing in the past.

You should go back, say youre ready to buy a few guns, get the fsc, then say you want a glock 19, colt 1911, and a sig 938

I was at a grand opening of a new Big 5 before Xmas.

Store Employee was proudly telling everyone but anything in this case and take it home tonight no 10 day wait.

So I looked over to see the entire gun case was full of airsoft.

Gun gallery in glendale gave me that same line. I told them" no problem your stuff is to overpriced anyway " and never came back.

Get the card; pay; leave the store. There is no legal or contractual requirement that you buy their guns.
