Do you have COE & O3?

I haven't been following this much, but am about to fill out the paperwork and get going.

How serious is the issue of a potential ATF audit? Has anyone ever had one? It looks like it's a prime FUD topic, but some personal experience would be nice.

I have not yet been contacted by ATF for a compliance audit and from what I have learned the chances of such a audit are slim. If they ever do contact me, I know I have the option of when and where the audit would take place. If such a request came, I would choose to bring my bound book and supporting paperwork to a ATF field office near my home, not at my home...

I am planning on getting one. Here is my question though... I had one years ago that I stupidly let go for a variety of reasons that made sense at the time. If I get another C&R, do I have to add to my bound book from back in the day and would those weapons be subject to inspection? Or, would I be starting fresh?

CA will block 03/COE as well as the majority of those applying are not collecting "curios and relics". They let it slide for the collectors to procure hard to find ammo from local sources. As the majority will be using it to purchase ammo for non-qualifying firearms, they will block it somehow. Those that actually use it for their older collections may get screwed by those flooding the system with applications as the sheer number of new "collectors" is going to draw attention. JMHO

Possibly, but I am leaning on it not being a large radar blip.
The vast majority of people are probably not going through the trouble.
They'll do the dance here or black markets/bring across state border, which I think is going to be extensive.
I've submitted everything and waiting, ammo prompted me but I am excited
to collect some firearms as well. I think it will increase collectors.

Not getting either and not buying ammo locally. I've got all I need for a number of years and after that I reload only what I need before I leave the state. I won't likely shoot all of my .22LR (25,000 rounds) before I leave so that I will have to take with me when I go, good thing it doesn't take up much space or weigh very much.

To me, it's not about "asking permission" as much as it is a financial decision. I'll say screw you to CA if I can buy it cheaper elsewhere.

I have had my03 and COE for 20 years, never been inspected. If they do, the ATF must call and make an appointment with you, they don't just show up. If that ever happens, it is your choice if you want to let them in. I would advise though, if an appointment is made with them to inspect, keep the appointment and follow through with the terms of the license.

Thanks - I just did my live scan today and sent out all the paperwork to BATFE, CLEO and the CA DOJ.

Since I don't intend to use it for anything other than ammo purchases, it looks like my audit chances are not only low, but even if it happens it's going to be trivial.

Let's see how it all goes.
