It never goes as you described. Plenty of Leo's here. They can chime in to tell you it ain't that way.
It pretty much goes exactly like that unless you have a jerk cop. So it's 50/50 that he wastes your time and takes a lot of time checking your registration and writing the citation.

Just don't pull some silly sovereign citizen crap and you'll be free to go before you know it.

Lol dude, you need to learn the law, there is nothing in the probable cause to justify a search of your vehicle. They couldn't seize your property on those grounds.

And CA LEO are going to search based on what? A phone call from a non-LEO in Nevada where it isn't illegal to purchase ammo? That isn't probable cause, it isn't even reasonable suspicion. If it was, I could gather up a 100 CA license plates in Reno and call CHP in CA and have them all stopped based on my word alone? Think people, think.

Exactly. There are very few legal standings that give LEO's the right to search a vehicle without a warrant.

Highly doubtful that any one be pulled over for ammo check. But If they have other reasons to pull you over and ended up searching your car, they will write you up for the ammo since that is the new fad.
If you truly don't know what the **** you are talking about, then please don't post it on Calguns where the liberal members here will believe every word and start spreading even more FUD at their local Democrat gun owner meetings.

It isn't illegal to possess ammo in CA and as I stated previously, an LEO can only search vehicles under very stringent circumstances or with the vehicle operators permission. Are you one of those California numbskull drivers that gives verbal permission to let LEO search your vehicle just because they asked? After re-reading your post, I think you and California were made for each other. Enjoy.

He says there will be "agents" in other states looking for CA in the parking lots of of gun stores to report to CHP....

I'm sorry but this sounds like complete BS.

                    1. CA DOJ has the jurisdiction to operate in AZ? Or has the cooperation of AZ law enforcement to do so...even more laughable.
                    2. These agents would have to actually witness you purchasing the ammo.
                    3. They'd have to get your plate number.
                    4. Now CHP is going to have to wait at the stateline for you and witness you coming back into the state. Assuming they are waiting where and when you come back.
                    5. Pull you over and search your vehicle.
                    6. Then prove the ammo you have came from out of state, not ammo that was yours that you had with you before you left, by using the witness testimony of these shadow "agents"... who lets be honest probably do not have any jurisdiction to be doing what they are claiming. Or though your own idiocy by providing evidence such as a receipt or admitting/talking in general.

Also I saw something that said this part of the law doesn't go into effect until July 2019.

And he also claims that if you did bring back ammo illegally that your only response options are to perjure yourself to LE or admit to wrong doing? And that the burden of proving your innocence will be on you at that point? No. We don't have to say anything if we so choose.

Second thought, I would retract the last part from my post about "LEOs chiming in. Obviously, no LEO will admit to stopping people other than full legal cause.

Now, and back to real life, cops can stop you at any time they want for any reason they can think of. Real or made up. If you get mouthy, your day will turn even worse. Best case scenario (for you) is that the reason they came up with will not result in a warrant. Ok, now you can go after all the hassle. No skin off their back.

They do not care what the liberals or anyone else thinks nor do I give a rat's rip about liberals because I'm not one.
