Interested in member opinions on these Ca. compliant handguns in 9mm; Gl 26; Gl 19; S&W m&p shield; Springfield XD subcompact. Things such as all around function for HD and target shooting, mag reloading, trigger pull, good SD/HD rds, comparable accuracy. Any members who own one or more of these guns who can would care to give their opinion I would appreciate it. Also any suggestions on comparable 9mm compacts under $600. Thanks!

Undecided on compact 9mm

I have owned G19 and an XD...I preferred the Glock however both are now gone as I purged myself of both striker pistols and 9mm. I think any would be a good HD choice and accuracy should be as good as you are. I would fondle them all and see which one fits you.WTB - prelock smith 44's -
I have the XD9 subcompact with the 3" barrel. I wasn't interested in a Glock so went with this. I haven't had it more than a few months but I will say I was very impressed with it's accuracy. I expected wider groups because of the short barrel, but it shoots soooo good. I'm starting to think I'd like an XD in 4 or 5 inch.

Ah geez, with a post like that you're going to get bombarded by the glocktards. Good luck with that!
Seriously though, Most of those guns aren't really comparable in size. You're kinda all over the place on this. I'd recommend going to the gun store and checking each one out, you'll see what I mean"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them" - Richard Henry Lee

Shield.
Slim, easily concealable, accurate.
XD too bulky
I picked up a G43 for $600, It conceals and shoots well also.
Here is one that just popped up:

Kahr CW9. Don't let the price fool ya. At a minimum, research Kahr.Better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.

@Oldmandan, yes I’m aware of the size differences and I originally went to local gun shop in search of compact 45acp. Looked at 30sf which, to me, just seemed like a smaller version of the Gl21 which I have and an XD 45acp. I liked them both but now thinking of switching to 9mm for a number of reasons. I’ll take that advise and head back to the shop and physically check out as many of them as I can. Thanks for the reply.Comment

I would not want to have to bet my life on ANY single stack, reduced capacity, short sight radius, greater recoil, sub compact gun. If I had to choose a sub compact over a glock 19 sized weapon, I would go to the range and rent each of them. You'll likely sort out more in an hour than anything any of us can tell you. It might also be fun...except often times it isn't very fun shooting sub compacts...hence the trip to the range.
And if it matters to you I own a 3.3" XDS bi-tone. I would not buy it again. I'd probably go with a Shield if I absolutely needed a gun this size. But again, go the range and shoot them. Make sure you like how it handles before you drop your hard earned cash on it.
