Making mag changes more difficult, and limiting yourself to 10 round mags (when you have greater than 10 round mags bought before 2000) seems more like neutering than keeping all functionality in place by substituting an ugly grip for the original.



I say limiting yourself to 10 rounds because with a non-detachable magazine you cannot legally use mags with capacity greater than 10 rounds.



But your money, your gun, do what you want with it.

Can you really use greater than 20 rounds in the state ??

As long as you owned the mags prior to them being outlawed (year 2000). For now... Court case pending. And as long as your rifle has a detachable magazine.

I like this mag, alleviates the concerns some have voiced over clearing double feed / jams. I think a charging device for this system would be pretty easy to make, speeding up reloads. Not as fast as a mag swap, but probably as fast as the two fixed mag chargers already on the market and with this one you have an operational bolt catch (a plus over the Franklin mag)

I run my go-to rifle featureless (lefty MIAD Backfin, Magpul fixed carbine, and a Griffin Armament comp), but I'd love to throw one of these on the spare lower I have. I wouldn't consider any fixed magazine AR solution for serious defensive use, but for enjoying the pistol grip and collapsible stock at the range or just plinking this looks like a great option. Obviously I'm not worried about reload speed in those circumstances anyway.

I've also found that new shooters (specifically right-handed folks) have trouble with my preferred setup, so being able to throw the upper on the fully featured lower would make that a much more enjoyable experience for them as well.

If I were going fixed mag I would get a clip loading device. This seems slow and cumbersome, not to mention large.

Got to look at one, the reason for it's length is that it not a staggered load but a single stack 10 round mag. It seems very well constructed, I like the concept and may eventually get one.

Picked up a few CompMags today in Roseville. Went straight to the range. Love them. Great option for range shooters/plinkers or those who shoot out of state often and want to keep their features. Especially perfect for travel. Installs or comes off in 20 seconds. Little bit cheaper at the gun show as well. Highly recommend checking them out, although not really a great option for you tacticool operators...then again, was the bullet button ever a great option either?

Good innovation and may work for some folks. Problems I see are it is huge, rifles are going to take a lot of room in the safe with that big arse mag stuck in it. And for AR pistols, again same problem. Big mag that only holds 10 rounds and throws off the size. Would like to see it compacted down to a 20rd mag size if that is possible.

It is the same size as a standard capacity magazine. The only difference is trap door width and spring handle. Not "huge" at all.

The featureless stuff still hold water if you want to neuter your AR.

I'm sorry to inform you but an AR that requires a tool to remove a magazine OR an AR that does not accept a removable magazine IS NEUTERED!

If I'm forced to decide I will gladly pin my stock, put a standard mag release, and remove my pistol grip so that I can still mow through 6 10-round mags in under 30 seconds if the situation requires it.

Featureless is the only legal configuration that allows you to maintain a nearly identical rate of fire as a free state AR. So before you start talking about "neutered", keep that fact in the back of your mind.

Quit lying to yourself.
