How long before guns are illegal ? (another shooting)

With the church shooting today, Vegas a few weeks ago and other shootings. How long do you think it will be before guns are illegal to own ?

This may belong in the National 2A section, but its theoretical at this point.

With each shooting there are more screams for gun control, I don't know when, it could be tomorrow, it could be 50 or even 100 years but I see the U.S. moving to a point where guns are illegal or have to be kept at a shooting range and you can't take them home.

I know, there will be replies asking me what part of "shall not be infringed" I don't understand. And there may be some states that secede from the U.S. to keep their gun rights. And there might even be a civil war over the issue. But realistically the majority of us have families, jobs, homes and don't want to go to jail and will surrender our guns under a useless but loud protest. We will talk loud here and make great predictions and in the end, give up the guns like sheep. There will be the exceptions, they will be the one on the 5pm news.

Luckily, I am 60 years old and I don't see it happening in my lifetime, but I think its coming, so when do you think its coming ?

Remember in Australia it came VERY quick after one too many shootings. They don't have the second amendment but it happened quickly there when people got fed up.

And there is a point to my question, lately I have slowed down my gun purchases because of this, increased my ammo purchases because of Jan 1 laws though

Many states have very explicit protections for gun rights in their state constitutions. Any state-level ban is bound to be stricken down in those states.

A national level ban at this time won't pass judicial scrutiny. It's akin to Trump's "travel ban" - our side would go judge-shopping to find one who will issue the preliminary injunction and the ban will be dead. There are MANY judges who will strike down any ban based on Heller. We would be dealing with gun-friendly circuits at that time, not with CA-9 in San Francisco.

I would also argue that all these shootings have the opposite effect. More and more people realize that the problem is the overall division in the country, lack of any ethics or morality, complete disregard for other's property or life, entitlement culture, identity politics, no accountability. If anything, more people see the need to carry guns to protect their local communities and could care less about ghetto rats killing each other.

I could see gun being banned in CA, NJ, NY and a few other states in the near future in the absence of the feds refusing to pass some nationwide gun laws that all states have to follow.

Guns will not be illegal to own in this country. Restrictions, yes! We can look to Australia to see why firearms should not be made illegal.

And it will not stop the killing of people by other people here in the U.S. like stated countless times if people want to kill its not because they had a tool (gun) handy.

Take a state like NJ I would say they are 80% of the way toward a total ban already, you need a permit just to purchase a firearm there let alone carry one. Even BB guns or paint ball guns can't be carried without a permit. So while a state may claim everyone has a right to own a gun we see more and more restriction everyday on what we can own.

Why it's important to vote for Pro Gun Candidates

Now it is more important than ever to vote for and financially support pro gun candidates running for political office. If Hillary had won the election, you can bet she would have pushed for gun confiscation.

After the gun haters lost the Supreme Court case they changed tactics and are working state by state to push gun control. They are well funded and nearly hysterical over each and every gun shooting event. They capitalize on other people's tragedies.

Confiscation of guns from LAWFUL OWNERS will begin here in California if gun owners do not fight back.

I think it will happen pretty quick.

I think of it this way, a shooting of innocent will get one gun control law in place. Most people has accepted a GUN control restriction is a good response to a gun shooting.

It may cost 1M dollars to pay someone to do the shooting, it is like a life insurance payout. Consider the alternative of trying to lobby for a law amendment, that 1M payout is relatively low cost to achieve the goal.

As soon as we get a Dem president and Dem majority in both houses of Congress. Count on it.

They won't be banned! remember they respect 2A. They will be highly restricted. (near impossible) to obtain legally.

The rate of Manchurian Candidates will increase until a full ban will be in effect. Then it will stop,
