I don't disagree and obviously they're different, but they're both gas operated piston driven systems with loose tolerances that a throw around a chunky bolt carrier and shoot 7.62, designed by the same country around the same time, similar sights etc etc. For someone hoping for an AK and yet still didn't know what he had and probably unfamiliar with surplus rifles in general...they're similar IMO.A SKS is not even close to being a AK. The actions are completely different. The SKS uses a tipping bolt, and the AK uses a rotating bolt. The triggers are totally different, and the gas systems are both different.
In fact the only similarity is that they both use the same caliber, and the same sling.Comment
