Ya... It means learn what your purchasing and make your firearm purchases legally. You had no idea what this was other then "a gun" and was purchased without the involvement of an FFL.

I would throw it in a very deep lake and forget you ever owned it, be sure to wipe your prints off it. It was probably used in some drug shooting crime.

Factory codes are discussed in this thread.

Chinese SKS Type 56 ID FAQ update Apr 1 1. INTRODUCTION: China has been manufacturing SKS for over 50 years producing more SKS than any other nation. During this period, we've seen how it has evolved from the original design to the many variations. The main driving force for the changes was...

Is nobody else concerned that he bought this weapon and has no idea what it is or what it chambers? I'm thinking this may be a troll thread or we are witnesses to what appears to be a felony. The DROS would list the model and caliber so did the OP buy this firearm without going through a FFL?

I've been wondering the exact same thing. How did the OP acquire the Sks? In a Walmart parking lot?

              Location

              Folks

The OPs location has not been given that I can see in this thread. We have members from all over the US and some from overseas too

Lots of details lacking... but why are folks assuming they are in California and thus required to buy a used gun via an FFL dealer?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Gun, car, clothing... Regardless of what you're buying, who spends several hundred dollars on something with zero idea of what it is, how it works, if it's even a good deal?

Must be nice to have enough money to throw $400 at something you can't even identify... OP I have a lot of things I'd like to sell you.

                  lol...

But not for people who actually know anything about firearms.

Probably as good a place as any.

Was it this site that had a buyer getting a "Luger" only to find out it was a Lahti?

Since you are in Missouri, you can use 20 or 30 round detachable magazine with your SKS. No need to get the original 10 round magazine and reload from the top.

I was reading this article on how to convert a SKS to accept AK mags, seemed complicated to me, anyone ever do it?
