    10 mm for hunting???

Toying with building a PCC in 10mm. Anyone know if this would make a decent gun for hogs or small deer. Some one once told me they hunted black bear with a 10mm pistol, which is where I got the idea.

Black bear are often shot while bayed or treed. Yes a 10mm will do it up close.

Anything past 25 yds and it is falling fast.

Sounds like a typical "gun story".
10mm is common for bear defense but I have not heard it for hunting.

It works. But are you a good enough hunter and shot to make it a clean kill? I carry a 10mm as a sidearm for that day a deer or pig is dumb enough to wander into 30’ or less of range. It hasn’t happened yet but it might one day.

I see no point of using it in a PCC as a hunting long gun. There are better options for long guns.

Not once the state goes lead free. Copper 10mm loads are very anemic. I'm building a 460 Rowland to replace my 10mm hunting pistol.

^Cant use solid rounds for hunting in CA. Also as Spyder has mentioned I’m stuck with a 155 grain as the heaviest copper hollow point.

                In semiauto I probably wouldn't

A good revolver with hardcast bullets(in a FREE State) would probably work out pretty well.

I thought about it, then reconsidered. I have a 10mm Glock for up close encounters.

I disagree - watch the videos. With the proper ammo, a 10mm will stop a bear. Of course, shot placement is important.

Hard cast lead solids are (or were) ok for hunting. Not in copper zone though.

Why? How do you know where OP will be hunting bear?

                            I hoping it's 12 gauge slugs.
